Tea party activists say they'll abstain from voting on Election Day

By ROBERT J. VICKERS, The Patriot-News

Though Mitt Romney has sewn up the Republican presidential nomination, some tea party activists remain unconvinced of his conservative credentials and plan to abstain in November.

“I have heard from various folks in the tea party that they would rather stay home,” said Ana Puig, the state director of FreedomWorks, a conservative activist training group. “I’m hearing that from people all over the country and on Facebook.”

The Romney rejection stems from the deeply held belief by many conservatives that the former Massachusetts governor is really a moderate wolf in conservative sheep’s clothing.

Many conservatives worry that he would govern as a traditional big-government Republican.

“They think Romney is a RINO,” said Puig, referring to the oft-used and derisive acronym Republican In Name Only.

“You do have the very right-wing folks who are going to stay home, but a no vote is a vote for Barack Obama,” said Puig, who is also the co-chairwoman of Bucks County’s Kitchen Table Patriots tea party group.

Scott Burkholder, an organizer in the York County 912 Patriots, said he also has heard tea party members say they’ll pass on voting for Romney.

“I’ve heard that,” Burkholder said. “I think that’s dangerous.”

It’s not clear how many in the tea party will actually stay away from the polls on Election Day.

Burkholder attributed the sentiment to the momentary frustration of not getting a more conservative candidate, such as Pennsylvania’s former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum.

“The same things were said about [2008 GOP nominee] John McCain,” Burkholder said. “When McCain won the nomination, we were for Romney because he was more conservative than McCain. You can see how far the conservative movement has come now that Romney isn’t conservative enough.”

Much of the dissenting sentiment stems from the vocal libertarian wing of the party.

“The majority of Tea Party members will vote for Mitt Romney, but the majority of Ron Paul folks will not,” Puig said of the Texas congressman who remains a candidate for the GOP nomination. “They’ll stay home, but they don’t represent the grassroots movement.”

Burkholder said he has personally tried to convince libertarian Paul supporters to join the fold.

“Ron Paul people are going to vote for Ron Paul no matter if he gets into the race or not,” Burkholder said. “I’ve had that back-and-forth with a lot of Ron Paul people.”

Romney will undoubtedly campaign more from the middle to woo independent moderates.

Some libertarians — who see no substantive difference between Romney and Obama — believe he could still win over the libertarian wing if he made a genuine effort.

“A lot of us are hoping we can form a coalition in August and move forward,” said Dewayne Delgrande, a registered Camp Hill Republican who votes libertarian.

“But Mitt Romney needs to have something to offer,” Delgrande said. “He hasn’t shown any indication of that, but I hope it will come. He shouldn’t take the faction for granted.”

You look at elections like a fawning teen-aged girl looks at a beauty contest.

This isn't a game Stone.

It's not a popularity contest.

The False Left-Right Paradigm and the Deception of the American People

The truth is, there is no right or left. There is only right and wrong.

Total bullsh*t.

There are CERTAINLY degrees and extents of "right and wrong", "right and left", and hatred and love...

There is also a difference between George Washington AND Barry Soetoro.

a) Vote for 0buma and Part II completes the utter microwaved destruction and suffication of our nation by a fascist-commie and Dems/fellow socialists - who obviously despise EVERYTHING about America and our traditions and heritage

b) Vote for Romney and retain opportunities on SEVERAL fronts for conservatives and constitutionalists to re-group, slow down and repel the rampant statism and destruction of this Republic. It's far from ideal, but it provides breathing room.

First of all, you have absolutely no indication that Romney will do ANYTHING to advance conservatism or roll back ANY of Obama's Executive Orders. Haven't you learned anything after the Bush Jr. Administration?

What was it Romney said a few months ago...that he's "severely" conservative?

WTF does that mean? The man does not have a clue.

Judging by his words and actions, I get the impression that he is just as much a statist as Obama.

He supports the NDAA, warrant-less wiretaps and surveillance of the internet and emails.

And do you really think that the Supreme Court will be anything other than a rubber-stamp for whichever globalist NWO puppet gets elected?

No, I will not support or vote for either candidate. I am not going pin any hopes on Romney doing anything to change the direction this nation is headed or to even slow down the pace that it's headed there.

The ‘Lesser Of Two Evils’ Con-Game

Lesser Of Two Evils?  There’s No Such Thing…

First of all, asserting that there is such a thing as a “lesser of two evils” is an act of naivety.

It relies on a very dangerous assumption; that one can somehow quantify which candidate is going to hurt the country less.  I’ve even read essays by people who pretend they can mathematically delineate the “more evil” of the evils!  Not surprisingly, their “logic” invariably leads them to proclaim the lesser evil to be the candidate of the party they happen to belong to.

Ignorant Republicans always see the Democrat as the greater evil, while ignorant Democrats always see the Republican as the ultimate monster.

Here’s some math for you:  there are two candidates for President of the United States, one is a cannibalistic serial killer who plans to murder 20 more people with his own hands while in office.  The other is a cannibalistic serial killer who only plans to kill 19 innocents personally.  Which candidate do you support?

The correct answer is NEITHER.

Unless you are a fan of murder, there is no inherent difference between these two demonic bureaucrats.  They both stand in opposition to the guiding principles of inborn conscience, as well as the protections provided by the laws of free people.  The fact that one man will do slightly less damage during his reign is irrelevant.  Is a choice between Stalin and Hitler, for instance, really a choice at all?  Which one is the "lesser evil" in this equation?

Some may argue that this comparison is a bit over the top.  I beg to differ.  Presidents have the power not only to maim and kill en mass, but they also have the power to dismantle the laws which protect our civil liberties.  To drive the point home as far as Romney and Obama are concerned, let’s watch the following video, which removes the blinders and exposes these two charlatans for what they really are; two peas in a pod:

A refusal to vote, or a vote for a third party, is not a vote for Obama, or a vote for Romney, but a vote against the charade.

There is no such thing as a “lesser evil”.  Either a candidate follows the path of truth and honor, or he does not.  If he does, he deserves our support.  If he does not, or if both candidates are criminals, then they both must be tossed to the wayside.  Just because the system has deliberately limited our choices does not mean we are required to participate in the flim-flam

Then there's the matter of the Supreme Count appointees - NO small consideration

That's a good argument to not vote for Romney OR Obama. Mitt's judicial appointments as governor were horrible. His record overall stinks!

If we're playing the "reform the GOP" strategy then we must say NO to turds. As long as people vote for anti-American globalist neo-progressives like Bush, McCain, Romney, etc, they'll keep running them. Tough love... say NO to shit sandwiches.

The alternative is to abandon the GOP altogether, let it whither and die, and support a pro-American third party. Change and become pro-American, or die, must be the message to the progressive GOP-neotards.

Look Stone, if you're going to vote for a socialist, you might as well just pull the lever for Obama.

You really think Romney is going to scale back the police state, is he going to repeal the NDAA, the PATRIOT Act?

Will he stop the use of drones spying on Americans?

No but he will have lower taxes. He will open up more drilling. He said he will repeal Obamacare. I expect him to do that if congress sends him a bill.

The issues you speak of Obama and Romney tie. So Romney wouldn't be any worse on those issues imo.

I wouldn't call Romney a socialist either.

Their foreign polilcy will admittidly be very similar. Their domestic policy will have more differences.

The party bosses and ardent followers would have you believe otherwise. They would have you believe that right is whatever particular party they belong to, and wrong is the political opposition. This might be true if the sides of today were genuine.

Instead, both parties and most mainstream organizations funnel into the same end result: total control. While the left and right bicker publicly on hot topics," the end result is the same, regardless of who is President, or who is in control of Congress.

Less freedoms for individuals, less sovereignty for nations, losses of jobs through insane international agreements like NAFTA, the dilution of American culture, and the over extension of our military. It's been said that if you don't like what the Republicans are doing, vote for the Democrats, and if you don't like what Democrats are doing, vote Republican.

It's set up like a game. I have my favorite team, and you have yours. I'll back my team no matter what, just as long as your team doesn't win.

The problem is, both teams are full of scandalous figures who are so busy selling you and I out for their own personal gain, they have no time or desire to help our country in this time of need.

While we Americans are busy cheering our favorite politicos and jeering our least favorites, both sides are pursuing the policy of the destruction of America.

Lots of truth in your words. I pretty much agree with it. But Obama and Romney are not identical twins who will vote identically on every issue. Romney will do a little bit better imo. Not good just not as bad.

If there was someone who had a chance, like a Perot I would vote for them. I voted Perot in 92.

Of course I'm not going to bet. One of them will win, and the Bilderbergers have chosen Romney. What does that tell you?

At least I won't have a guilty conscience from supporting the lesser of two evils.

The Bilderbergers chose Obama. Did they pick Romney, who knows but I will give you the benefit if the tiny doubt. Do you think the election was rigged and Romney didn't legitimately win? I suspect that you and others would say the bilderbergs picked Newt if he won, Perry if he won, Santorum if he won, etc.

I understand where you are coming from. I kind of think the same way. But this time around we have Obama again. He is pure evil. I don't know of Romney is pure evil.

Of course I did, TWICE.

You were merely presenting another logical fallacy commonly referred to as begging the question; i.e., a circular argument.

A standard high-school debate tactic, which people often resort to when they have lost the moral (or intellectual) high ground.

(((((Smirk)))))

"Most people prefer to believe that their leaders are just and fair, even in the face of evidence to the contrary, because once a citizen acknowledges that the government under which he lives is lying and corrupt, the citizen has to choose what he or she will do about it. To take action in the face of corrupt government entails risks of harm to life and loved ones. To choose to do nothing is to surrender one's self-image of standing for principles. Most people do not have the courage to face that choice. Hence, most propaganda is not designed to fool the critical thinker but only to give moral cowards an excuse not to think at all." Begging the question is a type of logical fallacy in which a proposition is made that uses its own premise as proof of the proposition. In other words, it is a statement that refers to its own assertion to prove the assertion. Such arguments are essentially of the form "a is true because a is true" though rarely is such an argument stated as such. Often the premise 'a' is only one of many premises that go into proving that 'a' is true as a conclusion.

I was asking a question, not making an argument, so STOP repeating yourself.

Here is the question for the FORTH time:

Are you going to write in Ron Paul after he is dead?

Why are you afraid to answer the question???

THIS COMING NATIONAL ELECTION IS THE MOST CRITICAL IN ALL OF AMERICAN HISTORY.

How many times have we heard that in the past 10 years?

Who gives a fuck moron?

It happens to be TRUE this time.

Spoiled, stupid and ignorant, brain dead phuckwads, libTURD fools, tools, and idiots, are the real sickness; the messiah "king" obammy and his regime are only the symptoms.

There have only been two make or break Presidential elections in my lifetime.

1980 pitted the most incompetent President in modern history against the only true conservative President since Calvin Coolidge.

The decision this year is between the most anti-business President in U.S. history against a successful businessman.

This is not Dole versus Clinton. There are real, important differences this time.

Hmmm. It would seem you didn't read far enough to fully understand the point.

IDIOT.

From your wiki link:

The fallacy of petitio principii, or "begging the question", is committed "when a proposition which requires proof is assumed without proof", or more generally denotes when an assumption is used, "in some form of the very proposition to be proved, as a premise from which to deduce it".[2] Thus, insofar as petitio principii refers to arguing for a conclusion that has already been assumed in the premise, this fallacy consists of "begging" the listener to accept the "question" (proposition) before the labor of logic is undertaken.

From the link I provided:

Begging the question is a fallacious form of argument.
Therefore, to beg the question is to argue fallaciously.

Perhaps after you educate yourself, you'll be worthy of further consideration... But for now, I'm trying to discuss Mozart with Zimbu the friggin' Monkey.

Bye, bozo.

So let me re-phrase the choices in this election:

1) LIVE AND FIGHT ANOTHER DAY with Romney

2) Die a quick death tomorrow with 0buma

Such a pathetic set of decisions you have placed before yourself.

I see your post more succinctly as:

1) Die slowly on the gurney to HELL with Romney as the GOP drains your blood.

2) Die a quick death tomorrow with 0buma as the DEMS remove every attribute about your life NOW!

There that fixed it. A nationwide, violent blood curdling revolution shall happen in either case.
