Tea party activists say they'll abstain from voting on Election Day

By ROBERT J. VICKERS, The Patriot-News

Though Mitt Romney has sewn up the Republican presidential nomination, some tea party activists remain unconvinced of his conservative credentials and plan to abstain in November.

“I have heard from various folks in the tea party that they would rather stay home,” said Ana Puig, the state director of FreedomWorks, a conservative activist training group. “I’m hearing that from people all over the country and on Facebook.”

The Romney rejection stems from the deeply held belief by many conservatives that the former Massachusetts governor is really a moderate wolf in conservative sheep’s clothing.

Many conservatives worry that he would govern as a traditional big-government Republican.

“They think Romney is a RINO,” said Puig, referring to the oft-used and derisive acronym Republican In Name Only.

“You do have the very right-wing folks who are going to stay home, but a no vote is a vote for Barack Obama,” said Puig, who is also the co-chairwoman of Bucks County’s Kitchen Table Patriots tea party group.

Scott Burkholder, an organizer in the York County 912 Patriots, said he also has heard tea party members say they’ll pass on voting for Romney.

“I’ve heard that,” Burkholder said. “I think that’s dangerous.”

It’s not clear how many in the tea party will actually stay away from the polls on Election Day.

Burkholder attributed the sentiment to the momentary frustration of not getting a more conservative candidate, such as Pennsylvania’s former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum.

“The same things were said about [2008 GOP nominee] John McCain,” Burkholder said. “When McCain won the nomination, we were for Romney because he was more conservative than McCain. You can see how far the conservative movement has come now that Romney isn’t conservative enough.”

Much of the dissenting sentiment stems from the vocal libertarian wing of the party.

“The majority of Tea Party members will vote for Mitt Romney, but the majority of Ron Paul folks will not,” Puig said of the Texas congressman who remains a candidate for the GOP nomination. “They’ll stay home, but they don’t represent the grassroots movement.”

Burkholder said he has personally tried to convince libertarian Paul supporters to join the fold.

“Ron Paul people are going to vote for Ron Paul no matter if he gets into the race or not,” Burkholder said. “I’ve had that back-and-forth with a lot of Ron Paul people.”

Romney will undoubtedly campaign more from the middle to woo independent moderates.

Some libertarians — who see no substantive difference between Romney and Obama — believe he could still win over the libertarian wing if he made a genuine effort.

“A lot of us are hoping we can form a coalition in August and move forward,” said Dewayne Delgrande, a registered Camp Hill Republican who votes libertarian.

“But Mitt Romney needs to have something to offer,” Delgrande said. “He hasn’t shown any indication of that, but I hope it will come. He shouldn’t take the faction for granted.”

Tea party activists say they'll abstain from voting on Election Day

I'd laugh at these FOOLS but there isn't a thing funny about any of this.

When they vote FOR the messiah "king" obammy, (by voting for a guy who has ZERO chance to beat him whoever the fuck he is), I want them to remember that they will not get a pass for doing so.

EVER.

IF the messiah "king" wins , THEY will have helped him to win. Won't THEY be PROUD?

These spoiled little bitches are incapable of understanding a basic fact, that THIS election is like no other election in our HISTORY.

There will be no second chance for America.

And these spoiled little bitches, where they expect to get "respect" for being so "true to their principles" they WILL get nothing but contempt from Americans.

Eventually, (IF they are capable of even telling themselves the truth), even these spoiled little cunts will admit to themselves that they choked when need most, and that they helped piss away AMERICA.

THEY are acting like a bunch of spoiled little cunts.

Well, OK; THEY aren't "acting".

I and every other FREE American piss on them.

THEY are the world.

FTW!

“The liberties of our country, the freedoms of our civil Constitution are worth defending at all hazards; it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors. They purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood. It will bring a mark of everlasting infamy on the present generation – enlightened as it is – if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of designing men.”

I've been hearing that same load of bullshit for the past decade from "conservatives".

The problem with you is that you are still falling for The ‘Lesser Of Two Evils’ Con-Game .

What you are doing is engaging in a common disinformation tactic called a False Dichotomy

A false dichotomy is typically used in an argument to force your opponent into an extreme position -- by making the assumption that there are only two positions. Examples:

  • "If you don't vote for Romney, you support Obama" - A third alternative is not voting for either of them.
  • "If you vote third-party, you support Obama." - Once again limiting the debate to two choices
  • "If you point out the fact that the Democrat and the Republican candidates are fundamentally no different and that neither of them has earned a vote, you support Obama." - again ignoring the numerous options available.

I do NOT support either Obama OR Romney.

    ***

I just don't know how to make it any simpler for you to grasp. You don't own my vote - Romney does not own my vote. I want them to remember that they will not get a pass for doing so.

And when Bilderberg choice Romney wins, will you wake up from your slumber and finally understand that the game is rigged?

People vote their conscience in the primaries. My guy lost.

Actually there really are only two viable choices. It is either Romney or Obama. The time to vote for your favorite was during the primaries. Lots of people don't vote in the primaries.

I'll bet you a thousand bucks Romney or Obama win the election. What you don't want to bet? Why is that? Is it because you actually realize that they are the only ones who can win.

There is no Ross Perot this year. No big third party candidate. If there was I could definately consider supporting them.

Kudos for not supporting Obama. Did you support him the first time?

Translation: Now I'm free to do what I KNOW is wrong, support a complete shit- bag, and feel all warm and cozy, because I didn't vote for the other sock-puppet in the show...

TELL ME, Stone... exactly how much does it take to sacrifice your soul? What price be paid, to set aside your morals, your integrity, your future beyond this life????

HOW CHEAP IS YOUR SOUL THESE DAYS??????????
