A female Democratic state representative in Michigan said Thursday that she has been silenced by her Republican colleagues after she uttered the word “vagina” while criticizing a slate of bills that would restrict female reproductive rights.
Michigan State Rep. Lisa Brown (D) made her comments during a Wednesday debate on proposed legislation that critics say could effectively ban abortions in the state. ”I have not asked you to adopt and adhere to my religious beliefs,” she said. “Why are you asking me to adopt yours? And finally, Mr. Speaker, I’m flattered that you’re all so interested in my vagina, but no means no.”
The legislation, contained in three separate bills, would limit abortions by restricting procedures past 20 weeks of pregnancy, imposing new insurance and licensing requirements on clinics, limiting access to abortion drugs and placing new requirements on the tissue disposal process.
Speaking against the bills after being recognized by the House speaker, Rep. Brown relayed a little known fact: Jewish law that places the life of the mother over that of an unborn child, no matter how far along the pregnancy is.
That’s when she dropped the v-word.
House Republican leadership later confirmed to Michigan Radio that they felt her comment violated decorum, and that she would not be called upon in future debates.
A second female Democrat, State Rep. Barb Byrum (D), said that she too has been banned from speaking in recognized debate following an “outburst” over the same slate of legislation.
Video from the Michigan House floor shows Byrum attempting to speak about an amendment to the anti-abortion bills, but the speaker does not recognize her despite her status as the amendment’s author.
Her repeated requests to speak were ignored as Republicans swiftly knocked down the proposal, and she later claimed it was because she had used the word “vasectomy.” Byrum’s amendment would have subjected men’s reproductive rights to the same regulations proposed for women.
Republicans, who hold a powerful majority in the Michigan House and Senate, passed the bills with the help of just six Democrats in a vote Wednesday of 70-39.
Both representatives are now banned from recognized debate for an unspecified amount of time.

Can't make this up. But again, what should one expect of a representative of Detroit AND a broad whose mattress-life expectancy is about a week and a half (when she's not using the back seat of a Chrysler 300).
Democrats can always be counted on to boycott any modicum of common sense and decency. They provide solid proof that the human race is indeed devolving.

We all know this is a tired old argument. Ask any MD (I have) and they will tell you they try to save the mother and child. Ask them again how many times they had to make the decision where the mother and child were evenly in danger and they had to pick one or the other. The answer is very few. We all tend to forget that those making these life or death decisions are not only the doctors. The mother if coherent usually has a big say. The husband if the wife is not coherent. It is a lot more complicated than the demographic monsters want us to believe. They don't want to actually ask real doctors (not TV talking head doctors) who will tell you the majority of mothers when they know it is them or the baby choose the baby. I know it is crazy talk to consider a mother in danger of losing her life will demand the child is saved. It goes against the whole murder lobby of the Planned "Eugenics" Parenthood cabal.

I was referring to the variations on when abortion is allowed, or forbidden in various Jewish "denominations".
The Orthodox are most strict, the Reformed least strict. In some instances, my understanding is that Jewish tradition among the Reformed demands that a Jewish woman have an abortion. Like to save her life if her health is under threat or she needs chemo or something. It is to preserve her health and fertility so she can get healthy enough to produce more offspring. Of course, the Reform Jews haven't even been around as long as the Christian charismatics. About a century though you can trace some elements to an earlier era. They are very very liberal politically, a lot like the liberal Christian churches who mostly resemble a political club for Lefties with a little ethnic/religious flavor and religious tax exemptions for donations and property. Handy.

Interesting you mention this. I have a cultural advisor here this week for an exercise we are doing. He is Reformed and we discussed Scriptures and he specifically decided to discuss the abortion issue. What you state above is accurate from what he discussed. Of course I disagree with him and am sending him a link to Gary's website on the subject.
