#172. To: Jasmine (#110)
This just shows how easy it is to wander into the wrong part of things in a new virtual domain. I got a couple of recommendations and I looked at another forum with the same software as this one that was too anti-semitic and racist for my taste, so I decided to post here in case lurking it first before I did changed my mind about it too.
You happened to wander in just after a big blowup between two factions here. One side operates like a pack of schoolyard bullies and trash every thread and start interforum squabbles and subterfuge while coordinating via forum mail and/or email and/or phone, a lot like some of the Harpy Squad did over at FR. If things die down and are getting too peaceful, they post flamebait threads just to stir it up. The other side just wants to discuss news stories and chit-chat politely.
So, you've wandered in here just after a real barrage. While, for instance, yukon is never popular, he's most often ignored (by sane people since he posts like he's Charles Manson). But the sane posters got a little fed up with yukon's Posse and their tactics this week.
You may have noticed h'up saying that "yukon has a better sense of these things". The forum owner has referred to him as her canary in the mine on more than one occasion and he has carte blanche here to be the biggest troll you're ever likely to see. This is like somebody who owns a vicious Rottweiler that they let attack anything that wanders by and says, "they sure do find the bad ones". Well, sure, if you attack everything that moves, you will get a few bad ones. But if you don't cheer on this Rottweiler (or Psycho-Canary) then you are probably the Enemy. Or something. Many of us are puzzled by this because it does sound a lot like family members who are enablers of a psychotic paranoid who attacks people for any and all reasons.
You'll see it sooner or later. yucky will bait people with his filthy posts until someone gets mad, then Goldi shows up to scold us all that we've tormented poor helpless shy little yukon, her poor little Rottweiler/Canary.
I suspect that, being a woman, you've already picked up the scent of this.
FWIW, the sane posters here on LP seem most often to have a bozo list that includes most of the following Posse members: yukon (always #1 on the list), Byteshredder (filthy and baiting graphics), Gatlin, harrowup (our "conservative ACLU Democrat" if you know any of that breed), GrandIsland, byeltsin (an obvious doppelganger account), fifty yard line (another doppelganger account), WhiteSands.
There are a few others that may annoy or who may pursue a few little vendettas against other posters here and there. For instance, I don't bozo GrandIsland (NY cop) because he sometimes makes good LE posts I like to read and he and I don't squabble. But that's just my experience and I've seen him light into others in a way that I do understand why they bozo him.
Anyway, I'm not telling you to bozo them at all but it is clear that they operate as a pack. I believe that some or most of these posters come here from TOS (The Other Site a.k.a. FreeRepublic) to deliberately destroy this forum. Just keep that little list in mind as you get to know people here.
We are all captured a bit by the Canary, you see. Goldie and the Posse think yukon is the canary in the mine, warning of lib infiltrators.
The rest of us think that yukon is a canary as well. Except he attracts the poison gas (his Posse) and therefore anyone who associates themselves with him is more than suspect, especially when they start spewing filth, disrupting threads with unrelated attacks, online stalking (including starting fights on other forums that spill back over to LP), etc.
Anyway, you make up your own mind. But you will choose one of the two factions.
BTW, no woman here at LP (other than Goldi who often doesn't even read LP for days at a time) will have a thing to do with the Posse. If that's any hint. I've always noticed that women avoid men that talk like that, behave that way.
Given that the Posse can trash the forum and other posters with impunity, I wouldn't blame you if you left now. But, with the bozo filter, LP is decent little forum and news chat site.
