Pastor Butch Sermon on Rendering Unto Caesar.

Poster Comment:

Pastor Butch says that if there is not conflict between civil government and the church. Then either the church and the civil authority is good or that both are corrupt. Or he said something similar to that. It makes a lot of sense.

Today's institutionalised, politically sanitised churches, regularly render unto Caecar the things that are God's.

'Pastors' who opine on political matters are to be discarded.

False shephards.

Jesus opined on it when he said render unto caesar

He made a brief (unclear) statement about an individuals relationship to God and the state. He wasn't opining on political matters.

Actually I don't have to look further than this: Pastor Butch Accepts Nomination For Constitution Party Candidate For Governor Of West Virginia 2008!

He's not a pastor. God calls pastors to shephard his 'flock' in spiritual matters and this guy is right into politics.

Remember at the end of Jesus life where the crowd had to choose between Barabbas and Jesus. Barabbas was in jail for political activism (violent activism if I recall). He was trying to change the world into what it ought to be through the political system.

Jesus had a different way to change the world and the people had to choose between the two ways. It's no different today. Pastors who are trying to better the world through politics have chosen the path of Barabbas because they reject Jesus' path.

False pastor.

Spoken like a true shill for IRS and statist gov't.

Jesus had much to say against the local gov't, once you understand how things were run in Palestine at that time.

The Romans had a wise 'hands-off' approach to local rule. The Pharisees and Saducees were the local gov't as well as the synagogue leadership (religious leaders). The Romans did not get involved in petty criminal and civil suits. They only presided over capital crimes.

Jesus called the ruling class of Jews "vipers", "of the devil", "whited sepulchres". Our IRS muzzled "churches" of today wouldn't dare think of calling the local school board or county council.

It is proper to denounce any gov't at any level once that gov't oversteps its Biblical bounds. Jesus did because the gov't of the Pharisees and Sadducess was illigitimate and ungodly. Their worldly form of gov't oppressed the saints and the good people of that day with statism and legalism.

We cannot be the salt of the earth if we are religiously (phony religion) barred from participating in society.

I never said Christians were barred from participating in society, or running for political office.

Mark 15:7

The man named Barabbas had been imprisoned with the insurrectionists who had committed murder in the insurrection.

He murdered during an insurrection.

He was an insurrectionist.

I can see where you are coming from. I'm not sure if I totally agree. Afterall as far as I know pastor Butch never killed anyone. He could be a supporter of insurrection though. So the Romans had barrabas up on charges for murder etc.

Does that mean that a pastor can never run for office? I'm not sure about that.

I can see where people of God such as pastors should put God first, afterall Gods kingdom is not of this world.

Now it could be that you are right. Does that make pastor Butch a bad pastor or just wrong on one issue. Well i'm not sure. I know this that when I listen to him I agree with the things he teaches and he seems genuine. Of course I could be judging his character incorrectly. Afterall I voted for Bush in 2000.

Barabbas was trying to change the world, make it a better place, through the power of the state.

This is what pastor Butch is doing.

A pastor should know better. And a pastor has other things God has called him to do instead of embroiling himself in the pig pen that is political office.

I blew the wording on that post.

Should read:

The world system will benefit from true Christians participating in society and the political system. Unfortunately, many good folks have been lead astray by the leaders in the institutional churches because they too easily trusted leaders, (who have a hidden agenda, support of Israel and false Jews), rather than obeying God's word. Best example of that to date is the Fundamental and Evangelical support of Boosh since 2000.

God isn't interested in benefiting the world system.

If a Christian wants to participate in society and the political system then all power to him as far as I'm concerned. But not a pastor.

I left Pastor Butch a question for him on his website. He has not replied to it yet.

Pastor Butch,

Was the 29th chapter of the book of the Acts in the orignal manuscripts?

This is also refered to as "The Lost Chapter".

P.B.'s website has devoted much space to the various translations and manuscripts used to generate them. He seems to have studied the history of the KJV and the process that was used to translate into English. He is aware of the additions and omissions. I thought maybe he would know about the "Lost Chapter".

Pastor Butch did reply:

Thank you for your reply.

I asked that question because I have a booklet published by Artisan Publishers, Oklahoma, entitiled "The Lost Chapter of Acts"

In the booklet, it claims a researcher, C.S. Sonnini (1801), discovered a Greek manuscript in the archives of Sultan Abdoul Achment, Constantinople, that includes a 29th chapter.

The 29th documentts Pauls travels to Spain and Britain before he was put on trial in Rome before Caesar.

The analysis points out that the book of the Acts ends very abruptly. The 29th chapter completes the book.

The KJV does indicate brethern in both Spain and Britain. Could these be of the lost tribes of Israel?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pastor Butch:
That is a good question. I cannot answer that question with any real authority. I am sure that Paul traveled to these place, although I cannot prove that there were any Israelite there. We must remember that through Christ we all become the seed of Abraham WITH all the promises and blessings if we obey, AND all the curses if we don't. Paul was sent primarily to the non-Israelites as you know.

I stand corrected. If you note what I was responding to. The poster I was responding to used the same root word. So I incorrectly kept the same root word in my response. When I looked at what I said in that post years ago. I thought it a strange sentence as that isn't the way I would talk. So when I read Biff's post I see why I used that phrase. Incorrectly as noted.
