It looks like former Republican presidential front-runner Herman Cain will have a full-time radio gig starting next year. As pointed out by RadioInsight.com late on Sunday night, a page lifted from a Google cache of WSB’s website states longtime Atlanta WSB host Neal Boortz will be giving up the microphone and passing the buck to former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain. The post appears set to run on wsbradio.com at 10:07 a.m. on Monday — which is at the top of his first hour — and reports Boortz’s last day will be Jan. 18, 2013 with Cain starting on Jan. 21, 2013. “Today national radio talk show host Neal Boortz announced live on his program that he’s retiring from his daily show and passing the torch to his friend and colleague, Herman Cain,” the article reports. “His last day hosting The Neal Boortz Show, which premiered on News/Talk WSB in 1993 and now airs on more than 200 radio stations with six million weekly listeners, will be January 18, 2013.” Boortz has had a 42-year-long career in talk radio, making stops at several of Atlanta’s talk stations before settling in 1993, according to the story. In 2011, Boortz suffered the loss of his long-time producer Royal Marshall, which some insiders speculated might have signaled the end of Boortz’s radio career. Cain, who bowed out of the race for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination amid controversy, will be taking over Boortz syndicated program on Inauguration Day 2013. Cain, a former radio host himself, had already been a fixture on that network for quite some time. (h/t RadioInsight.com)
