LOS ANGELES — The state budget shortfall in California has increased dramatically in the last six months, forcing state officials to assemble a series of new spending cuts that are likely to mean further reductions to schools, health care and other social programs already battered by nearly five years of budget retrenchment, state officials announced on Saturday. Gov. Jerry Brown, disclosing the development in a video posted on YouTube, said that California’s shortfall was now projected to be $16 billion, up from $9.2 billion in January. Mr. Brown said that he would propose a revised budget on Monday to deal with it. “We are now facing a $16 billion hole, not the $9 billion we thought in January,” Mr. Brown said. “This means we will have to go much further and make cuts far greater than I asked for at the beginning of the year.” Mr. Brown disclosed the news in a video that had all the trappings of a campaign announcement. In it, he aggressively accounted for the steps he said he had taken to try to scale back a $26 billion deficit he found upon taking office. And he urged viewers to back an initiative he is putting on the November ballot that would increase sales taxes by 0.25 percent and impose an income tax surcharge on wealthy Californians to try to stave off more cuts.

It just means that you were lucky enough to be born already understanding a lot of things,and that you have the ability to easily understand other things if they interest you. It doesn't mean you WILL do anything with the gift that was given you at birth,though. Almost all of the self-make millionaires I know are of no more than average intelligence,but they all had and used the ability to focus on becoming successful at their chosen careers,and to work hard to be successful. Almost all the really bright people I know have a comfortable standard of living,but none are really rich. This is probably due to very bright people being too interested in too many things to ever find the time to focus on one thing only and use that to succeed financially in life. Or at least that is the theory I came up with. Probably the 2nd smartest person I have ever met retired as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army. He had a GT score of 156,which is damn near off the charts. He was leg in a Engineer unit attached to the 1st SFG,and a lot of fun to hang out with because he was always jumping from one interesting hobby to another. THE smartest person I ever met was a Idiot Savant I went to high school with. This guy literally had to have someone walk him back and forth from home to school because he would walk right out in front of traffic and never even look. He would be too busy doing math problems in his head to be bothered to look. I'm not sure if he didn't know how to tie his shoelaces or if he just couldn't be bothered to do it,but it was normal to see him stopped in the hallway and there be somebody kneeling in front of him and tying his shoelaces for him. He had a little sister that was scary smart too,but not in his class. Damn few people were. He graduated with honors from one of the big state schools with a advanced degree in mathematics at age 18 after only taking two years to go from HS grad to PHD,and went to work for NASA. I seriously suspect he still needs a keeper to help him make it though the day. Her and her sheeple ilk think that it's an ego thing... Of course they do. The people who are not very bright always think being very bright would be something to brag about. That's because they don't know any better. It's like being really gifted musically or being really coordinated and a good natural athelete. Having the gift itself is meaningless unless you do something with it. It's what you accomplish that is worth bragging about,not what you are born with. Assuming of course that you are so lacking in self-esteem that you feel the need to brag to feel good about yourself.
