To: Mad Dog (#1) Actually Steve, I lived in Berlin during the early 1960s and saw what a travesty the wall and the partitioning of Germany was. These photos make me happy that the reunification of Germany has been a good thing and a success. I want to go back there sometime and see this country again, visiting Berlin and bavaria where I also lived. First if all, Vietnam and China still have a strong Communist Party. China's is nearing the age totalitarian states like that break up. There has been much talk about how and if the Chinese communist party can reinvent itself and last and I am hoping it dies. I never supported the partition of Europe or Sino-Soviet style communism. And I know what they are and how they word. maybe you should worry about your communication skills before you make pronouncements of what you know nothing of. The political party that runs China is more like the authoritarian party that ran Chile under General Pinochet than the totalitarian party that ran China under Mao. In many ways, China is more capitalistic than is the U.S. today. Economic liberalization is what will topple China's political system. Why? I am well aware of the changes there, but the Communist Party is still in power, still has a huge membership. The changes were made to make China more competitive globally, but they still hold the reins there. They are the reason people are afraid to talk and live lives that are more unfettered.
