Bush Sr., Gonzales, To Attend Calderon Inauguration Former President of the United States, George Herbert Walker Bush, and U.S. Attorney General, Alberto Gonzales, will lead the American delegation to Mexico City, MX where Mexican President elect Felipe Calderon will be sworn in on Friday, December, 31st 2006.
Earlier today a scuffle ensued in the Mexican Chamber of Deputies between members of Calderons conservative National Action Party or PAN and opposition leader Andres Manuel Lopez Obradors PRD or Party of the Democratic Revolution who have vowed not to let the inauguration take place.
Obrador, or AMLO as most Mexicans refer to him as, was sworn in earlier this month as Mexicos legitimate president in protest of Calderons razor thin victory in the July, 2006 presidential elections. Inaccuracies, inconsistencies and allegations of fraud and foreign meddling plagued not only the candidacies of the two men but the elections as well. However, international observers saw nothing and labeled the elections transparent.
