A city council is weighing a proposed ordinance that would force churches in the Kansas town to rent their facilities for gay weddings. Poster Comment: Forced to allow Massachusetts Marxist marriages at your church?
This kind of thing nationwide is inevitable. Folks who are for gay marriage see it as a civil rights issue. And may see the Catholic Church and conservative Christian organizations as the enemy. Do you really think they'd fight for civil rights and then agree that the institutions they hate don't have to acknowledge those civil rights? Of course not. Like I said, this kind of law is inevitable everywhere.
Todd Starnes of Fox News reports:The Hutchinson City Council will consider adding sexual orientation and gender identity to the protected classes in the city’s human relations code. They are expected to vote on the changes next month.
Hey, if religious institutions can be forced to cover abortifacients and sterilization procedures, what's the problem with forcing churches to rent their halls to folks celebrating a gay marriage. Come on, what's a little drag party between friends?
According to the Hutchinson Human Relations Commission, churches that rent out their buildings to the general public would not be allowed to discriminate “against a gay couple who want to rent the building for a party.”
Meryl Dye, a spokesperson for the Human Relations Commission confirmed to Fox News that churches would be subjected to portions of the proposed law.
“They would not be able to discriminate against gay and lesbian or transgender individuals,” Dye said. “That type of protection parallels to what you find in race discrimination. If a church provides lodging or rents a facility they could not discriminate based on race. It’s along that kind of thinking.”
Matthew Staver, chairman of the Liberty Counsel Action, told Fox News the proposed law is “un-American.”
“It is a collision course between religious freedom and the LGBT agenda,” Staver said. “This proposed legislation will ultimately override the religious freedom that is protected under the First Amendment.”
He argued that churches cannot be forced by the government to set aside their religious convictions and their mission. And, he warned, some churches could even be forced to rent their buildings for drag parties.
I'd suggest that churches start decorating their halls in very drab colors to avoid interest from gay marriage celebrations. And maybe put up lots of sports memorabilia. Wait, the lesbians might like that. How about a wall of inspirational posters with pictures of sunsets and lakes and stuff with quotes from Maggie Gallagher saying things like, "Europe, which gave us the idea of same-sex marriage, is a dying society, with birthrates 50 percent below replacement."

I wasn't married in a church because I am not Christian, but my ex-wife was (and still isn't a man. And my kid and grand kids didn't come from a male/male relationship. This is the oldest part of your diatribe here, and it is predicated on the tactic I used at Free Republic by continually being a thorn in their side with returning bannee accounts. Actually, this is your problem, not mine. Gender is an aspect og humanity and I don't consider men superior to women. Taking on a female avatar in a forum with a name meant to fool a really toxic forum owner or in a video game because one would rather look at a female character as you manipulate it in a virtual world is pretty darn normal. For example, I have a female avatar in an extremely popular multi-player European game where I kill 'mobs' (virtual alien animals) or other players in PK game which I am particularly good at. The gender base of the avatars is about 50/50 male/female, yet the player demographies is mostly male. Many of the macho male players have female avatars, many of them are also vets like me. Quite a few of them are Marine in fact. A couple of them are using older avatars and I've been chipping -- buying skills to get a higher playing level faster so I can kill them in the Player Kill zones (PK) more efficiently and often. Also one shot I kill weapons cost as much as 1000-2000 U.S. Dollars, and I've been saving for a better weapon and armor which helps in game as much as one's skill base. Which in indicative of how a large portion of the player base is well to do in this game with a virtual cash economy. The point is, I am amused and fasinated you would think that forum returning banneee deception and aspects of virtual role playing multi-player interface games is lying and deception. Is an author writing a book where he is a man writing about females also supposed to feel ashamed they are recreating a character with a different gender? I don't think so. The deliberate and revengeful infecting of others is a crime and should be prosecuted, but it is not represented in the majority of HIV infections. Whether it was caused by hetero or homosexual liaisons, or because of IV drug use, the victims should not be stigmatized and harassed because of their affliction. It is something that only hurts the effort to control and manage the pandemic, and ultimately does not help anybody.
The answer is very simple, and the churches should be brought to task for their bigotry.
