The battle for control of the mobile wallet is high on the agenda at this year’s annual mobile industry gathering. Keynotes at The Open Mobile Summit, 29-30 May London this year include Dan Schulman, Group President American Express, and Peter Ayliffe, CEO of Visa Europe.
They’re joined by heavy hitters from PayPal, Amazon, Google and all of Europe’s leading operator groups as the industry races to define the future mobile payments ecosystem.
Brands and retailers are also getting on the act -- with Unilever, Starbucks, EAT, Gondola Group and others joining this year’s line-up -- a clear indication of the rising tide of mobile commerce activity.
“After a slow start it looks like mobile payments are ready for prime time. Visa Europe have a massive push around payments at the Olympics this year, AmEx have a whole host of really progressive activities right across the mCommerce space, and a growing number of retailers are putting contactless terminals in store.” Said Open Mobile Summit executive producer Robin Batt
