Professional rabble-rouser masquerading as a civil rights advocate, the Rev. Al Sharpton, has called for civil disobedience if the cops in Sanford, Florida, do not arrest George Zimmerman, the Neighborhood Watch captain accused of shooting teenager Trayvon Martin to death.
If George Zimmerman is not arrested in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin soon, the Rev. Al Sharpton will call for an escalation in peaceful civil disobedience and economic sanctions, the Orlando Sentinel reports today.
Sharpton would not say the efforts would be taken against the city of Sanford specifically, but he has been critical of the police departments handling of the case.
I will speak about how the National Action Network will move to the next level if Zimmerman isnt arrested, said Sharpton, the founder of the organization.
Meanwhile, Tampa, Florida, radio talk show host Todd Schnitt has called for Sharpton to be arrested if violence results from his call for civil disobedience. He has also called for MSNBC to drop Sharpton as the host of the PoliticsNation show.
