Chicago, IL - In an appalling new low, Congressman Joe Walsh today slammed his opponent Tammy Duckworth's military service. Walsh told Politico, "What else has she done? Female, wounded veteran ... ehhh." Duckworth served as a Black Hawk helicopter pilot in Iraq in 2004, and lost her legs and part of the use of her right arm. She was awarded the Purple Heart for her combat injuries and is still active as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Illinois National Guard. VoteVets.org PAC, the largest group of progressive veterans responded in a statement, demanding an apology to Duckworth, and putting Walsh's own record up against Duckworth's service to the country and veterans. "Just when you think Congressman Joe Walsh couldn't sink any lower, he insults the service and sacrifice of our Veterans, particularly one like Tammy who lost her limbs in the line of duty. Congressman Walsh owes Tammy Duckworth and all Veterans an apology for his outrageous disrespect for their service," said Jon Soltz, Iraq War Veteran and Chairman of VoteVets.org PAC. "But it's not just that. If you think working for America's veterans at the VA both in Washington and Illinois is nothing, if you think working to improve the economic lives of veterans is nothing, then Joe Walsh's record is below nothing. He represents the do-nothing, obstructionist, extreme Tea Party wing of the GOP, not the values that Tammy stood up for." VoteVets.org PAC endorsed Duckworth's candidacy soon after she announced. Founded in 2006, the mission of VoteVets.org Political Action Committee is to elect Veterans to public office, with a focus on Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, and hold public officials accountable for their words and actions that impact America's 21st century troops and veterans. Though VoteVets.org PAC is non-partisan, candidates it backs must support VoteVets.org's core mission and beliefs.

To: mcToejam, rat-boy, drippy, Alzheimer Fred, whitesands, t-bird, I still haven't grasped why being a multiple-amputee is such a strong qualification for being a congressman. We've had them in both parties. I've never seen any of them (Dole, Kerrey, etc.) as being outstanding legislators.
I voted for Nick Popaditch an Iraq vet who lost an eye, whom Lawrence O'Donnell accused of inspiring Jarred Loughner. It was because Bob Filner was a reconquista POS though, not because Pop lost an eye . Of course Filner played the race card too. The illegal aliens in imperial valley must have liked it, since Filner won the election. My district is a real gerrymander nightmare. I'm in a thin strip along the border in San Diego county, but the majority of the district is a huge section of Imperial County to the east. My vote is cancelled out by the guest workers of Imperial Valley. Filner is scum! Obama's watch stopped on 24 May 2008, but he's been too busy smoking crack to notice.
That's a real PUNK way of putting it. As you well know, or at least should know, it is not a vet's wounds which are a putative QUALIFICATION to being a CONgress critter. It's their WILLINGNESS to possibly be wounded, or even KILLED, while in the actual service to THIS nation. I'd be happy to bitch slap anyone who tried face to face to put it the way TC put it, of course he has no respect because he hasn't actually ever DONE anything dangerous FOR America and Americans. He ain't ever even been to the edge of the sh!t. IF you served TC my apologies, but I don't ever remember you saying that you had. But, HERE, you are acting like PUNK TC, (if you are acting).
