If the Sheriff of Nottingham is consistently bothering you over taxes and the occasional poaching of the kings deer, heres a guy you can turn to. Jeff Fabry is a true legend not only because he has a quiver of archery awards, but because of the way hes achieved them. Fabry lost an arm and a leg in a motorcycle accident when he was 15, but has still managed to become one of the greatest archers ever. And now the five-time Special Games world champion and three-time Paralympic medalist is hoping to earn a gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics this summer.
Oh, did we mention that Fabry shoots the bow with his teeth?
Fabry pulls the arrow back by biting on a mouthpiece that he made from a nylon dog leash.
It was trial and error to find what I considered to be the perfect mouthpiece, where I could be proficient, he said.
Ive been doing this for 13 years and my teeth still look and feel the same the first day I started. Everything is going good, luckily.
Fabry said hes most proud of his work with wounded American vets.
He teaches the sport he loves to members of the Wounded Warriors Project, the nonprofit whose mission is to help injured service members cope in civilian society.
I got hurt before I could join the military, and this is kind of a way that I can give back to my country by helping our heroes, he said.
