"Don't Cry For Me Argentina"

(Backround Humming chorus)

(Evita:)

It won't be easy, you'll think it strange
When I try to explain how I feel
that I still need your love after all that I've done

You won't believe me
All you will see is a girl you once knew
Although she's dressed up to the nines
At sixes and sevens with you

I had to let it happen, I had to change
Couldn't stay all my life down at heel
Looking out of the window, staying out of the sun

So I chose freedom
Running around, trying everything new
But nothing impressed me at all
I never expected it to

Chorus:

Don't cry for me Argentina
The truth is I never left you
All through my wild days
My mad existence
I kept my promise
Don't keep your distance

And as for fortune, and as for fame
I never invited them in
Though it seemed to the world they were all I desired

They are illusions
They are not the solutions they promised to be
The answer was here all the time
I love you and hope you love me

Don't cry for me Argentina

(Backround Humming chorus)

(chorus)

Have I said too much?
There's nothing more I can think of to say to you.
But all you have to do is look at me to know
That every word is true

Thanks to Grant Andrews for submitting the lyrics.

Yes,"The song means something different to everybody", For me it's all about freedom :"I had to let it happen, I had to change Couldn't stay all my life down at heel Looking out of the window, staying out of the sun So I chose freedom Running around, trying everything new" and I'll chose freedom again and again and again.

After evita dead, Juan Peron started a sort of depresion. He called everything as her. Even, he created a place called: Ciudad Evita. In 1955 the militia took the government of Argentina and then Perón was exilied. He came back with his new bride, María Estela "Isabel" Perón. When they came back, they had postulated to President and Vicepresident of Argentina. They won, but their politics were differents than in the first governments. He helped rich people before doing that with poor people. He died, Isabelita became President, and then the militia (1976) took the power again, calling this act "Proceso de reorganización social", the most horrible years of the Argentina story. Now, the militars that were in the power of this years, and that made dissapair thousends of childs and babies, are being judged.

I love it!

Im argentinian too, and this is not about history, this is about politics, all the "peronistas" are covered nazis, they did awfull things to this country and their main mecanism to win elections was to gain the love from the poor people so they would vote for them.. yes, they started that political trend..and they were kinda nazis. if you're interested please research, if you're not then keep singing a song about someone who's reminded for what she did well and not for what she started

Yep, we gotta be careful who we vote for...for sure, not a socialist.

Where is Obama’s Socialism Taking Us?

Argentina’s Fall May Be Our Future January

11, 2010, 6:20 am By Kevin “Coach” Collins

At the start of the twentieth century Argentina was among the wealthiest countries in the world. It’s farm burst with produce and its countryside was covered with telephones and cars and railroads.

Argentine beef fed much of South America.

Nevertheless, in 1916 a new president promising “fundamental change” which appealed to the middle class who overlooked the fact that his new party lived up to its name “The Radicals.”

He introduced mandatory: pension insurance, health insurance, and low-income housing to “stimulate” the economy. The government took control of Argentina’s economy and new payroll taxes to pay for its adventure.

Soon the country’s treasury overflowed, but its entitlement programs grew faster eventually the outlays outpaced intake. By 1946 when Juan Peron became president the Argentines were so lulled to sleep by 30 years of socialism they actually welcomed Peron and his flashy young wife Evita. Peron used the fascism he had learned from Mussolini to turn on “the rich.”

Before long “the rich” became what was the middle class and Peron made them a target to be fleeced and destroyed. Government and taxes grew larger and larger as did labor unions. Ignoring reality

In 1989 Hyperinflation protectionism income confiscation and redistribution led to unsupportable wage increases and a still more government controlled economy. They started printing money and Argentina’s inflation rate hit 3000%! Food riots, looted stores and general chaos followed. Five years later public pensions (their Social Security) imploded and a fake “privatization” scheme failed to rescue seniors’ monthly checks. Payroll taxes went from 5% to 26% but it still wasn’t enough. They adopted a Value Added Tax, higher income taxes, a special “wealth tax” and a selloff of public assets. An economic calamity like our Great Depression followed. In one hundred years socialism had killed Argentina. What did you do to defend American freedoms yesterday, what will you do today?

Sound creepily familiar?
