Title: Corseted Minds: Does Fear of Irrelevance Send Conservative Men Fleeing to the Victorian Age?

In the last 50 years, American women have finally been able to reliably earn a living, thus rendering men economically unnecessary. Women are outstripping men in education. We’re breaking the glass ceiling. Childbirth out of wedlock no longer carries disgrace. There’s enough sperm stashed away in banks to promulgate the human race indefinitely. On a biological level, modern science has debunked the Adam’s rib story about the female being a derivative of the male.

Still more shattering, there’s even worry that the Y chromosome is in danger of extinction. At the very least, it has seen better days. As the New York Times recently reported:

“Men, or at least male biologists, have long been alarmed that their tiny Y chromosome, once the same size as its buxom partner, the X, will continue to wither away until it simply vanishes. The male sex would then become extinct, they fear, leaving women to invent some virgin-birth method of reproduction and propagate a sexless species.”

That’s gotta make Rick Santorum nervous. (Though the Times does concede that men may have “long-term viability” after all).

Conservatives find themselves in an era of technological advance, information on steroids, women on the rise, and men who do not know what their role is supposed to be. Can we be surprised that they look back wistfully on a “simpler time” when gender roles were strictly defined – and when men did the defining?

As Joyce Appleby explains in her book The Relentless Revolution, it was capitalism that helped let the Angel out of the house, driving the medical breakthroughs that made the development of reproductive technology possible. And it was capitalism that withered away the bonds of power between men and women that for millennia had been based on male religious authority, and replaced them with bonds based on economic value. The priest no longer determined what women are for. The advertisements in Vogue, maybe. But not the priests. This is the postmodern paradox that conservatives must contend with. And it's driving them absolutely bonkers just now.

No wonder "real conservatives" are so cranky.

Liberalism/feminism really is a mental disorder. The only reason why girls are doing better in "education" is because the system punishes boys for being male and tests kids on feelings over facts.

Smart parents don't let heir male children become part of that system.

What do you think is going to have to happen before we get out of the gutter and start doing the right thing as a nation again?

It seemed that indeed the truth would be 'forever on the scaffold, and wrong forever on the throne'.

With great eagerness he listened to the query, 'How long shall be the vision?'(Daniel 8:13)."

Daniel and the Coming King

Chapter 16

The Gospel In Daniel 9:24

By Dr.Desmond Ford

"It would be tragic if we contented ourselves with an analytical examination of this passage of Scripture. It is not merely a scintillating gem to be admired, but the bread of life to be eaten. It consists of 'the everlasting gospel' in minature."

"That which should concern us all the more than the issues of hermeneutics is the issue of life---our life. Not minutiae of prophetic interpretation, but sin, sorrow, and death constitute our problems.

Daniel 9:24 assures us that the world is a ship and not an iceberg, that God is intensely interested in our dilemma, and, best of all, that He has done something to extricate us from the apparent cul-de-sac of existence.

In Christ, the Melchizedekan King-Priest, He has brought in everlasting righteousness, freely offered to all who believe."

Chapter 14

Daniel and the Coming King---Daniel 9

By Dr.Desmond Ford

"Sir Isaac Newton, the greatest of scientists prior to the modern period, wrote a commentary upon the prohecies of Daniel and Revelations. He desribed Daniel 9:24-27 as "the foudation-stone of the Christian religion" because centuries in advance it gave the time of appearance of the Messiah and His death, as well as a comprehensive description of His saving work in heaven and earth. The prophecy likewise tells what would be the fate of the Jews consequent upon their rejection of the One whose coming they had long anticpated. The destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70, foretold in Daniel 9:24-27, was history's testimony that the offerings and services of the sanctuary had met their fulfillment in the advent of the promised Messiah."

Newton, Isaac. Observsations Upon the Prophecies of Daniel and the Apocalpse of St. John. London: J. Darby and T. Browne, 1733 (Isaac Newton)

Chapter 14

Daniel and the Coming King---Daniel 9

by Dr.Desmond Ford

Seal Up the Vision

"The expression 'to seal up the vision' (v.24) should be considered. This expression, 'the vision', occurs eleven times in Daniel 8:1 to 10:1, and in all these cases it refers to the vision described in the eighth chapter of Daniel. The reader is advised to read again the entire passage. In pictorial, symbolic form the prophet was shown the unfolding of all future centuries till the second advent of Christ. The famous empires, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome, which long oppressed the people of God, are described; but particular emphasis is given to the persecution of the church during the Christian era and also to the supremacy of the couterfeit, apostate religion over most of that period. Christ's mediatorial ministry in heaven is alluded to, but its eclipse from men's mind through a counterfeit system is fortold. The sanctuary mentioned refers both to the church temple indwelt by the Holy Spirit on earth, as well as Israel's typical sanctuary. No doubt Daniel was dazed by this revelation of the apparent triumph of evil. In his lifetime he had witnessed the destruction of Jerusalem's temple, the center of true religion, and the carrying into captivity of the people of God by an idolatrous and desolating nation. Now in vision he is informed that this state of affairs is to continue on a much greater scale throughout most of the earth's history. It seemed that indeed the truth would be 'forever on the scaffold, and wrong forever on the throne'. With great eagerness he listened to the query, 'How long shall be the vision?'(Daniel 8:13)."

"Now in the revelation of 9:24-27 the mourning seer is told that there is a greater Prince of the house of Judah, a greater atonement, a greater sanctuary, and a greater redemption than any ever before experienced by Israel. The long- awaited Messiah, the Prince, a Priest-King, will take away the sin of the world and end earth's dark night. Thus 9:24 and 8:14 point to the same reality---the kingdom of God ignaugurated at the first advent and consummated at the second."

Corseted Minds: Does Fear of Irrelevance Send Conservative Men Fleeing to the Victorian Age?

Oooooh, GOODY.... another idiotic article by the resident bimbo... Let the fun begin!

In the last 50 years, American women have finally been able to reliably earn a living, thus rendering men economically unnecessary.

Oh, yes, I remember this line... Gloria Steinem said "a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle," right? Yehaw! How clever! And she looks so HAPPY, doesn't she?

Well, look that the bright side... after 50+ years of spouting her feminazi crap, she got married... to a MAN!!!!!!

[[[GASP!]]]

What's the expression I'm thinking of, here??? Oh yeah, it's liberal hypocrite!!!

Oh, and men suddenly become economically necessary, when the woman has a child... Oh, the irresponsible women will pawn their child off on a "day-care," where the kid is exposed to nasty bugs, antisocial behavior and the risk of being molested by her "baby-sitter," but HEY! You want a career, a family and the SUV! And let's face it, that baby makes a great accessory to my plan and image...!

Of course, that whole plan crashes, when you have two children... LOL.

Now, next point?

Women are outstripping men in education. We’re breaking the glass ceiling.

The first point is amusing. The second assumes that there is a false ceiling, when the reality is that it simply doesn't exist. Nice try. You fail.

Childbirth out of wedlock no longer carries disgrace.

The following quote demonstrates the sheer idiocy of this statement.

Violent Crime and Fatherlessness

In 1996, Congress continued business as usual by enacting legislation which will do little or nothing to reduce violent crime, but which will infringe civil liberties. The Clinton/Dole terrorism bill is Exhibit A, while the anti- gun laws snuck through in the closing days of Congress are exhibit B. But almost by accident, the last Congress ended up doing something which, in the long run, will likely lead to a major decrease in violent crime: welfare reform.

For all the talk about the complexities of the "root causes" of crime, there is one root cause which overwhelms all the rest: fatherlessness. Almost 70 percent of juveniles incarcerated in state reform institutions come from homes with no father or without their natural parents. Most gang members, 60 percent of rapists, and 75 percent of teenage homicide perpetrators come from single-parent homes.

Young black males from singleparent families are twice as likely to engage in crime as young black males from two-parent families. If the single-parent family is in a neighborhood with a large number of other single-parent families, the odds of the young man becoming involved in crime are tripled.

These findings are based on a study conducted for the Department of Health and Human Services by M. Anne Hill and June O'Neill of Baruch College. The study carefully held constant all socioeconomic variables (such as income, parental education, or urban setting) other than single parenthood.

Crime has often been thought of as a problem of race or poverty, since poor people and racial minorities comprise a larger portion of the violent criminal population than of the population as a whole. But in fact, the causal link between fatherlessness and crime is so strong that controlling for family configuration erases the relationship between race and crime and between low income and crime," as Barbara Dafoe Whitehead noted in her famous "Dan Quayle was Right" article.

There’s enough sperm stashed away in banks to promulgate the human race indefinitely.

Sounds good, except the maximum amount of time in which human sperm is viable, is 55 years, not "indefinitely." Again, you don't want facts to get in the way of your preconceived opinions [aka "delusions"], now, do you???

I could go on, and embarrass you further (though, as a liberal, you are largely immune to embarrassment, since- by definition- you have no shame.

But there's no need; the point is made, your article is full of crap, and you're an empty-headed fool.

THANKS for the laughs!!!!!!

Liberalism/feminism really is a mental disorder.

Indeed. Feminism has done more harm to women than anything men could ever do....

Women cannot compete in the same venue, with men, because men compete with each other, as men. A woman who comes along, trying to be a man, is a joke. Generally speaking, men fight with each other every day. They want to be tough, "macho," whatever....

IF a woman uses the assets God gives her- femininity and charm- she can get a man to do anything she wants.... He's at work, or at a football game, or in the garage... and with a smile, she can get him to drop whatever he's doing, and take out the trash (as a simple example)...

And he has no idea that she has that power.... If she's really smart, he'll never know that she has the power in the house...

Feminism alleges that a woman can be a man. I don't understand why real women would ever want to give up their power, for that.

An old Russian expression: The man controls the rudder of the ship; the woman holds the ship in the palm of her hand.

THAT'S the truth.

Well no, Eric, she didn't.

From a letter written by Ms Steinem to "Time" magazine

In your note on my new and happy marital partnership with David Bale, you credit me with the witticism 'A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle.' In fact, Irina Dunn, a distinguished Australian educator, journalist and politician, coined the phrase back in 1970 when she was a student at the University of Sydney. She paraphrased the philosopher who said, 'Man needs God like fish needs a bicycle.' Dunn deserves credit for creating such a popular and durable spoof of the old idea that women need men more than vice versa.

The founding fathers decided it was the right thing to do to fight government oppression, and it's still pertinent today for us to fight government oppression!!!!! But then again you despise the founding fathers because they fought against the type of oppression you routinely vote for......

That and the fact that since my two boys ACE their standardized test scores- they need my two boys- more than we need them. I will just pick up and pull them out of school, and take them to the next school over- if the staff start to pull any of their nonsense on me.

I got this one down. The leftist/feminist educators stay out of my way, trust me. :)

When I call them, it is "Yes m'am- what can we do for you?" lol...

Feminism was invented by old dried up musty Leftard females who hadn't seen anything "hard" in years.. And they are using it to phuck with the minds of the women who do see something "hard" on a regular basis!!!

Bet you'd be surprised to learn that feminists like men more than women who are not feminists.

Despite the popular belief that feminists dislike men, few studies have actually examined the empirical accuracy of this stereotype. The present study examined self-identified feminists’ and nonfeminists’ attitudes toward men. An ethnically diverse sample (N = 488) of college students responded to statements from the Ambivalence toward Men Inventory (AMI; Glick & Fiske, 1999). Contrary to popular beliefs, feminists reported lower levels of hostility toward men than did nonfeminists. The persistence of the myth of the man-hating feminist is explored.

Of course men with your mentality, CZ, might have a different experience. I assure you that any hostility directed towards you from women is due to your boorish behavior as exemplified by your remark quoted above, and not because of your gender.

OOpppssss looks like I struck a nerve....

Real women don't use feminism as a crutch!!! They are already capable of being independent, self supporting and know how to raise children correctly without being told how by some loser Leftard psychiatrist......... All feminism is doing is making women more dependent on men not less....

Most of the articles I've read over the years that disparage feminism seem to be written by females instead of males!!!!!

In a recent book, Red Feminism: American Communism and the Making of Women's Liberation, (2002) feminist historian Kate Weigand states: "ideas, activists and traditions that emanated from the Communist movement of the forties and fifties continued to shape the direction of the new women's movement of the 1960s and later."

In fact, Weigand, a lecturer at Smith College, shows that modern feminism is a direct outgrowth of American Communism. There is nothing that feminists said or did in the 1960's-1980's that wasn't prefigured in the CPUSA of the 1940's and 1950's. Many second-wave feminist leaders were "red diaper babies," the children of Communists.

Communists pioneered the political and cultural analysis of woman's oppression. They originated women's studies, and advocated public daycare, birth control, abortion and even children's rights. They forged key feminist concepts such as "the personal is the political" and techniques such as "consciousness raising."

"The trouble with our liberal friends are not that they're ignorant: It's just that they know so much that isn't so."
