This US summer is 'what global warming looks like' By SETH BORENSTEIN, AP, July 3, 2012 news-general-20120703-US.SCI.Weird.Weather

A tree sitting atop a vehicle offers free firewood in Falls Church, Va., Mon...

WASHINGTON — If you want a glimpse of some of the worst of global warming, scientists suggest taking a look at U.S. weather in recent weeks. Horrendous wildfires. Oppressive heat waves. Devastating droughts. Flooding from giant deluges. And a powerful freak wind storm called a derecho. These are the kinds of extremes climate scientists have predicted will come with climate change, although it's far too early to say that is the cause.

Another Afghan soldier has shot and wounded five US soldiers in eastern Afghanistan on Tuesday, in the latest sign that the training mission in Afghanistan is an utter failure.

The attack took place at a NATI base in Wardak province, east of Kabul. The NATO officials called these “green-on-blue” attacks, where Afghans in the police or army attack their supposedly allied international forces. More than 20 foreign personnel have been killed in such shootings in Afghanistan this year."

Betting it's worse.

Latest: 191 enemy personnel killed and wounded in Gulistan, 25 vehicles destroyed Qari Yousuf Ahmadi E-mail Print PDF Thursday, 15 Sya'ban 1433 Thursday, 05 July 2012 10:23

FARAH, Jul. 04 – 138 hireling troops and governmental officials have been killed, 35 others wounded as well as 25 enemy vehicles and tanks eliminated in IED, rocket and armed attacks over the past few days in Gulistan district where the enemy has mounted an offensive, according to officials reporting from Farah province.

Reports add that a heavy clash was taking place between Mujahideen and hireling ANA in the area last night when airpower of foreign troops carried out airstrikes in the battle ground and adjacent areas, hitting the hirelings and killing 80 enemy personnel as well as wounding countless others, officials in charge from the district said adding that 15 Mujahideen were also martyred (may Allah grant them the highest ranks in Jannah) and 6 others were injured.

It is said that despite the large scale enemy operation and heavy airstrikes for the past few days, they still have not managed to reach the district center."

191 ANA killed is a MAJOR battle.

And still taking place.

And the Offensive has still not reached it's target?

Yes, children, before "wealth creators" and other masters of the universe were held up as worthy models for their 80-hour weeks and unstinting dedication to squeezing every single minute ever more tightly for a few more bucks -- before those of us who serve the creators and masters were supposed to be supinely grateful for working ever harder and longer to swell the bosses' private coffers -- there once existed the notion that there might actually be more to human life than the treadmill and the ant hill. And that we might even use the amazing technological advances that our species has produced to make life easier, richer, deeper, more engaging and humane for all of us.

All of this is long gone now, of course. As Owen Hatherly notes in the Guardian, both Right and Left have combined, for many decades, to advance the idea that pointless labor is our lot, and that we should be happy with it:"

As Religion can do Nothing to ease Human Suffering, Religion now must radically change into something else.

The police have become internal militarized shock troops, cracking skulls for the elites and enforcing "protest free zones" all over the world. When they aren't beating and tear-gassing protesters or spying on their fellow citizens, they are engaged in various other acts of thuggery like shooting unarmed civilians, preventing recording of their activities and harassing the poor and minorities. Tickets and fines are written up for violating pointless regulations, and millions of dollars of taxpayer money are spent on stopping victimless crimes, even as serious crimes go unpunished and entire cities become "no-go" forbidden zones.

Churches have become downscale social clubs and incubators of reactionary politics for angry white rural Americans fearful of losing their privileges. Evangelical fundamentalist mullahs militate for a theocracy while raking in millions from their "flock." They obsess over homosexuality and abortion even as their congregations experience falling living standards. Sanctimonious preachers turn out to be closet homosexuals and the Catholic church pays millions of dollars to the victims of its pedophile priests when it isn't busy hushing up the scandal.

Peak Amerikan...;}

" The American public are spoiled brats, demanding the best of everything but refusing to pay for it. They believe they live in the best country on earth despite all of the evidence to the contrary. Vindictive, war-mongering, ignorant and xenophobic, they are mollycoddled and doted on by toadying politicians and corporations who constantly tell them how great they are, even though most of them are morbidly obese, gullible, barely literate, beer-swilling cretins, singularly unable to do even the simplest things for themselves. Americans look like side-show freaks festooned with piercings and tattoos and clad in garish and ill-fitting clown costumes, behaving like overgrown children in adult bodies. This clueless population is in denial and elect only “leaders” will tell them what they want to hear. Comfort and distraction are the highest goals.

When will we finally admit that modern American society is pretty much just one giant clusterfuck?

Oh, and I know it's a sin to criticize the perfect military we're all supposed to worship, but when was the last time the military actually defended the homeland of the United States, World War Two? Since then its seems we've been waging wars on the other side of the planet, conveniently often in oil-rich countries. Who is paying for our hundreds of military bases around the world, and what exactly do the American public get for their money besides lunatics trying to blow them up? Do we really need to spend more than the rest of the world combined? The military waged preemptive war on two countries that did not attack us while failing to prevent a mass slaughter in our own country. And I seem to recall scandal after scandal in recent years, from waterboarding at Guantanamo Bay, to posing with hooded prisoners at Abu Ghraib, to the Pat Tillman coverup, to urinating on corpses, to cutting off fingers and ears as trophies, to employing private Blackwater mercenaries, to no-bid contracts costing taxpayers billions, to advocating "total war" with Islam. And now drones are flying over the world's hotspots blowing up wedding parties and terminating American citizens without trial. No, I'm sorry, they are not blameless.

And before you accuse me of "hating the troops" what about the coverups of Gulf War syndrome? What about not being allowed to take photos of body bags? What about being too cheap to buy adequate body armor for combat troops? What about the treatment of patients at Walter Reed Veteran's hospital? What about the military suicides? What about politicians constantly trying to cut funding for caring for wounded veterans while voting for weapons systems even the military doesn't want? Loving war is not honoring the troops. Our institutions have failed them too.

I could go on.

2014-15

6. I expect total sea ice loss will occur during summer in either 2014 or 2015. By this time I expect agricultural output to have declined to a point where food supplies are inadequate and famine and conflict are rife. Farmers will not know what to plant or when and even acquiring seed from other climatic regions may be problematic.

7. Social conditions will be comparable to the Holomodor. People will try to eat anything and everything - earthworms, insects, each other - even in some cases their own children. Nation states will fragment and reform into smaller and increasingly violent competitive groups fighting over rapidly diminishing resources. Maintaining the supply chains required for the operation of modern technology including agriculture will be largely impossible.

8. If we see widespread war before nation states fragment there is a possibility of the use of nuclear and genetically enhanced biological weaponry. Whether through war or famine the human population will be in freefall.

9. The climate will continue to worsen as more heat flows into the system and this will become the new threat to survivors as population density becomes too low to sustain conflict. Most survivors will be eliminated, leaving the human race on the brink of extinction. A majority of the planet will cease to be habitable. The deserts will greatly expand, though this will help balance the planets thermal budget. Very few people will live to see the Arctic sea ice entirely gone throughout the year or the ruined cities drowned in the rising sea.

10. Assuming the collapse is as rapid and severe as I expect – I would expect the human population to collapse below the new carrying capacity of the planet and therefore for resource pressure to lighten once a sufficient number of people die (granted with few useful resources left and uncertainty about precisely which regions would be good prospects).

Maybe my '2017 Hoover Dam stops producing electricity' statement was optimistic....;}

"Most people prefer to believe that their leaders are just and fair, even in the face of evidence to the contrary, because once a citizen acknowledges that the government under which he lives is lying and corrupt, the citizen has to choose what he or she will do about it. To take action in the face of corrupt government entails risks of harm to life and loved ones. To choose to do nothing is to surrender one's self-image of standing for principles. Most people do not have the courage to face that choice. Hence, most propaganda is not designed to fool the critical thinker but only to give moral cowards an excuse not to think at all." .

I'm telling you this so that you can reassure the man.

He and the others who were exposed to agent orange DID make a difference.

DIOXIN is GONE because of their sacrifices.

Btw Fred dioxins were used in many other ways.

For example the final PAs in my radars were filled with an insulating oil that was almost pure dioxins.

The doors to them were designed that you could NOT open them without getting a BATH in gallons of that oil, because they wanted to make sure the oil was changed every time the PAs were accessed. Every six months or so we took dioxin baths. But no settlement for us, (there were likely fewer than 5,000 of us ever to hold our rate and do that job) .

I meant your neighbor no disrespect, quite the contrary.

Please just tell him because of abuses of agent orange use, dioxin is GONE in the USA and it's NOT coming back.

If you wouldn't mind, please give him my personal thanks for his service Fred.

1,4-Dioxin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1,4-Dioxin

1,4-Dioxin (also referred as dioxin or p-dioxin) is a heterocyclic, organic, antiaromatic compound with the chemical formula C4H4O2. ... Famous PCDD exposure cases include Agent Orange produced by MONSANTO sprayed over vegetation ...

"C.H. Boehringer Sohn discovered a way to minimize the

DIOXIN

content in a substance by keeping down the temperature in the autoclave [during manufacture]. . . . Dow, Monsanto, and Diamond Shamrock were able to make a batch of Agent Orange in about forty-five minutes, but if they'd lowered the temperatures, it would have taken a lot longer-- possibly twelve hours-- to make the same batch of herbicide. By keeping the autoclave temperatures higher, they made it more quickly and for a lot cheaper. Dow and other manufacturers of Agent Orange ignored the safety precautions because they wanted to make Agent Orange more quickly, and they wanted to make more of it."[1]

Where I live we’ve had power outages, record high temps, buckling roads, and lack of rain. Yet the only response is to shrink government and cut taxes. As cuts continue, trust in government declines in a downward spiral that feeds on itself.

It’s getting pretty hard to hide the bad news. [b]Has anyone noticed that all those so-called "post-apocalyptic" prophecies are coming true?"

Of course, it remains quite unclear just how much “wealth” is left anywhere under the conditions of extreme overshoot, and equally unclear where a Pigman should go to escape the oncoming Capital Controls likely to spring up everywhere.

The carefree life of Simon Black jetting around the world First Class, holding multiple passports and not paying Taxes in ANY jusrisdiction is coming to a close here, but Simon doesn’t want to see this end. He really doesn’t want to farm the 1100 Acres he bought in Chile, and if he HAS to move there permanently he likely hopes Da Chilean Goobermint will recognize his Title and will allow him to run his Estate as a Feudal Kingdom, hiring poor Chilean Peasants to plow HIS land.

The Capital Controls are coming, and every Pigman website from Zero Hedge to the Daily Capitalist will complain about them and tell you how horrible they are. They sure are horrible…for PIGMEN! They can’t go and jump ship with all the MONEY when the Titanic goes down.

What's not understood, except by the very few (ALWAYS and EVERYTIME in the End Game PREVIEW of Panics & Mania's  ) is that there WILL be a Debt Jubilee.

IT can be controlled and doled out, at FIRST, but then the Collapse Continuum is reached and you find yourself behind the curve. THEN, CREDIT is what you hold in your hand when deciding each and every debt.

Printing Money to catch up is impossible.

You're definitely not going to understand this....;}

'Nature has the right to exist'

Posted by Gerry Canavan

Art. 1. Nature or Pachamama, where life is reproduced and exists, has the right to exist, persist, maintain and regenerate its vital cycles, structure, functions and its processes in evolution.

Every person, people, community or nationality, will be able to demand the recognitions of rights for nature before the public organisms. The application and interpretation of these rights will follow the related principles established in the Constitution.

With the public ratification of its new constitution last week, Ecuador has for the first time anywhere in history granted inalienable rights to nature. The new constitution also includes strict egalitarian provisions about food production, water access, and protection for indigenous peoples and uncontacted tribes.

As the Guardian link makes clear, this unprecedented act stems in part from Ecuador's custodianship of the Galápagos Islands and in part from its long history of abuse at the hands of multinational corporations:

'I see lots of dead people.'

"The problem here we are faced with is that ONGOING are HIGH CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY. This is not just limited to such outstanding and obvious Crimes like the Macondo Well Blowout in the GOM or FUK-U-Shima Fiasco, which is clearly a result of EXTREME levels of corruption between both Goobermint and Private Industry in Japan. It extends to the AUSTERITY being forced down the throats of J6Ps all over the world as their Pensions are cut and current workers are laid off, all to SAVE THE BANKSTERS! Bond Holders MUST be preserved at ALL COSTS! Such costs of course include Greek Senior Citizens committing Suicide because they see their future Eating out of Dumpsters."
