Of course this happened.

There's a reason for a Holocaust Museum in the Imperial City.... for jews...

But not one for either Blacks or First Nation....;}

"After combing through obscure records, newspapers and journals Downs believes that about a quarter of the four million freed slaves either died or suffered from illness between 1862 and 1870. He writes in the book that it can be considered "the largest biological crisis of the 19th century" and yet it is one that has been little investigated by contemporary historians.

Downs believes much of that is because at the time of the civil war, which raged between 1861 and 1865 and pitted the unionist north against the confederate south, many people did not want to investigate the tragedy befalling the freed slaves. Many northerners were little more sympathetic than their southern opponents when it came to the health of the freed slaves and anti-slavery abolitionists feared the disaster would prove their critics right.

"In the 19th century people did not want to talk about it. Some did not care and abolitionists, when they saw so many freed people dying, feared that it proved true what some people said: that slaves were not able to exist on their own," Downs told the Observer."

'our message'....LMFAO....

You give a rat's ass about my soul.

Love that, 'JUST in case'.

I do, though.

Jimmy, our essence IS "our soul". It survives this state of consciousness just as it dwells in a Dream State.

Life is NOT a random accident. That notion is irrational and does-not-compute.

Consider why a Creator of the Universe would NOT give us the key to the reason we are here...and His Final Plan. Yes..."JUST IN CASE" you open your heart and spirit and find that "grain of a mustard seed".

Too bad, you're 'JUST in case' story plays right into Evil's story. But good thing that POWER always trumps religion & evil....;}

No - "POWER" does NOT "always trump religion" - specifically, NOT true Christianity. It may overwhelm the spirit at times, but never when the Name of Jesus is invoked. I know that's a fairy tale for you, but...millions will vouch for my testimony.

How can you refute an Evil vs. Good conflict throughout history? Or that man's nature IS to sin?

Just takes awhile, here on Planet Hell....;}

This mortal life was NEVER intended to be Eden once Adam and Eve did their thing.

You have TWO options in this life:

1) Succumb to your human nature, believe The Serpent, and deny The Redeemer

2) Soften your heart and try understanding the accept the offer of grace from The Redeemer, and exist forever in indescribably wonderful Heaven. It will grant you the peace of mind you search for but struggle mightily with.

Time runs short before standing (and trembling) before The Almighty in Judgment. That moment will be the Panic of all Panics followed by the loneliness of all loneliness as you are *eternally* cut off from the Light.

Ponder...living forever in a dark closet. ALONE. Only you can't even touch the walls never mind touch, see, or speak to anyone...except the demons mocking you. THAT is the definition of REAL "hell".

"We cannot look to the conscience of the world when our own conscience is asleep."

Carl von Ossietzky

All that matters is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; the waking state of conscience of the world is an individual responsibility - especially after having heard "The Good News" from others.

"Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act."

Dietrich Bonhoeffer

God will hold NO ONE "guiltless", period. Evil permeates this world, of which Satan takes advantage and whispers into our ears. Our Free Will makes a decision to sin. Bonhoeffer provides NO newsflash.

THIS is the reason He sent His guiltless Son Jesus Christ to take on ALL the sins of the world.

John 3:16

King James Version (KJV)

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

we have a little boy who is now asking for a sibling to play with.

i've thought that it's probably not a bad idea from a reliability / failure mode or worst case analysis perspective that we do in fact have a backup in case something goes wrong with the existing pre adolescent unit we now have.

she is a somewhat ambivalent but seems to be coming around to the idea.

I have one...a boy, now a young adult. A sibling does change their personality - I think it makes them more confident and secure (reflecting in retrospect). Sometimes I wish I had #2, but then I wasn't ready then either. Tough call. These days at times I wish I'd pulled the trigger...

You're little guy is what - about 3 yo??

If the old lady is gonna pull that trigger, she's gotta do it soon. Better do some nudging (and show her this post). Beyond a 4 year difference and the two sibs won't ever hang out together...until they're older adults. So...Uncle Lib sez: "Git the champagne ready tonight!"

Furthermore, the Nazi regime "boasted openly of its new system of 'police justice' by which the Secret Police (Gestapo) and the Criminal Police (Kripo) could decide for themselves what the law was, and send people to the camps at will." The Times tells us:

That record, and Mr. Awlaki’s calls for more attacks, presented Mr. Obama with an urgent question: Could he order the targeted killing of an American citizen, in a country with which the United States was not at war, in secret and without the benefit of a trial?

The Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel prepared a lengthy memo justifying that extraordinary step, asserting that while the Fifth Amendment’s guarantee of due process applied, it could be satisfied by internal deliberations in the executive branch

Thus do the President and his fellow murderers dispense with charges and trials altogether; relying on secret (non-existent and/or usually erroneous or extremely doubtful) evidence, which is evaluated in secret by means of secret standards, they "decide for themselves what the law" is. Once again, they part company from the Nazis, at least as far as the Nazis' actions in the first years of their rule are concerned: Obama and the other murderers today don't merely "send people to the camps at will." The state protects the life of all citizens. Unfortunately, it is only possible to provide such protection for certain individuals, and those involved have to be taken into protective custody under the direct protection of the police.

The individuals involved, who are often of the Jewish faith, have through behaviour towards the national Germany, such as through offending nationalist feelings, and so on, made themselves so unloved among the people, that they would be exposed to the anger of the people unless the police stepped in.

Less than a week later, Himmler gave instructions to open a concentration camp at Dachau. In claiming that 'protective custody' was designed to protect individuals from the wrath of the mob, he made it easy for Germans to construct stories of their own in which supposedly endangered persons were picked up for their own good.

Not only that, but according to Himmler 'often' the alleged culprits who outraged the national feelings of citizens were Jews, a statement which opened the possibility for citizens, even those who were not antisemitic, to conclude that it was good to have such 'enemies' off the streets. The comforting thought was that most prisoners in concentration camps were not at all like 'good citizens'.

Imagine for a moment that, in the aftermath of a significant terrorist attack or series of attacks within U.S. borders, the government announced, with numerous expressions of "deeply regrettable necessity" and how the government earnestly sought other alternatives but

could find none that would assure public safety, that local police departments (with additional support from the U.S. military as required) would immediately begin rounding up "terrorists," "Muslims" and/or "Arabs," as well as those suspected of being terrorist sympathizers, and confining them in detention camps. Imagine that U.S. officials said, among other things, that taking such "enemies" or potential enemies off the streets was necessary "for their own good," as well as for the protection of the public.

On the basis of the principles and methods the government has already announced -- and which the government thoughtfully has conveyed to the public in great detail in the pages of the nation's leading newspaper --

the government would only be continuing the policies it has already implemented if it murdered all such potential "enemies." Surely confining them in detention camps is a far more modest and less brutal means of dealing with the continuing crisis, is it not?

And since almost no one objects to the already implemented and publicized program of murder, who would protest? And what would most likely happen to such protesters in the atmosphere of hysteria following another attack?

The following piece is a co-exclusive with Wall Street on Parade.

If you want to trade securities at any brokerage firm in the U.S., you’ll need to study intensively for about three months, memorize dizzying rules and regulations, then take a six hour licensing exam. (The exam is so rigorous that it’s compared to the CPA exam. I don’t know if it’s fact or lore, but I was told exam rooms in past decades had puke buckets in the corners. My room didn’t in 1986.) Then, you’ll need to get fingerprinted, pass a background check, register with a host of stock exchanges, make sure you have a supervisor who holds a principal’s license, get approved in each state in which you plan to conduct business, and take ongoing continuing education classes to keep your licenses.

Or, you could skip all of that and earn $14 million a year trading – without a license – stocks, bonds, swaps, options, futures with $374 billion of bank depositors’ money at JP Morgan Chase’s Chief Investment Office – a unit few on Wall Street had ever heard of until it reported losing billions of dollars in May in the same derivative transaction that made AIG a ward of the taxpayer in 2008.

You listen to Jesus' Sermon on the Mount yet?

Ya gotta start somewhere. May as well be THERE. I ask: Are his words the words of ANY mortal??

You make the mistake many make - the gospel of Jesus Christ is NOT a "religion", nor should His Gospel necessarily be confused with the people who "represent Christianity" - although a fellowship is a good thing.

Seriously Jimmy, if you want to challenge those "double-standards" for clarification, seek and ye shall find....at a Bible Study. Context is everything with respect the the Old Testament. Plucking out random scripture doesn't tell the story.

Or perhaps someone like Redleghunter can address any question(s) that have bothered you about the Bible - why not ask him a specific question or address an issue? I would myself but am not a Bible Scholar.

do my bible study where the holy rollers leave off.

When was the last time a preacher railed against usury for example....;}

" The Entire Western World (Europe, USA etc) , predominantly Christian, is burning due to huge unemployment but Christianity (which decried usury all along its history) gives a picture of emperor Nero, as given below, who proverbially was playing the flute while Rome was burning :-

(1)- The Entire Western World is reeling under huge public debt (even 100 to 200 % of GDP) and its people are left in a situation where entire legitimate income of their governments are barely enough to service the debt (payment of its interest and principal) with the result these governments are unable to invest in government programs for removing unemployment from these countries (which will always be there as it is impossible for private capital alone to generate total employment, which is sine-qua-non of any democracy)

(2)- This grave situation has arrived because rulers and politicians of these Western Countries indulged in unbridled public borrowings and instead of utilizing these borrowings in productive assets for public welfare (which would have generated money to service the debt also) , indulged in profligacy with the result public debt kept on rising and reached the untenable proportion up to even 100 to 200 % GDP. This has deprived governments of their capacity to invest in public welfare with the result now political instability also exists in many countries of Western Christian World like Greece, France, Spain, Italy Portugal etc

Because I deal in the cutting edge.

You won't find fundies there.

They believe what the state tells them.

That's why.

Give to Ceasar what is Ceasar's as Ceasar claims everything.

" (7)- Therefore the Churches of Western Countries with so much assets at their command naturally know the basic principle of lending & borrowing and is morally obliged to protect Christians from mischiefs of usurers. But unfortunately the Christians of Western Countries who have given so much wealth, power and respect to Churches are in return getting only sermons about other-world from these Churches whereas the Usury (decried by Christianity all along its history) is having a field day in these Christian majority countries and which has ultimately resulted in inadequate growth to take care of unemployment in these Western Christian Countries."

Because I deal in the cutting edge.

You won't find fundies there.

They believe what the state tells them.

That's why.

You "know" zip, nada, nothing.

You've bought into one giant delusion. Good luck with that.

That's why when you come back, and you always do, I don't forget this.....;}

Friendo....;}

""The opportunity to stand before the crowd, come out as an atheist and share about the Clergy Project was too good to pass up. I was at the end of my rope and I knew it. It was now or never for me. As I walked up on that stage, I felt fear like no other."

MacBain had been questioning her faith since her early teens, when she came across contradictions in the Bible. "I went to my dad for answers," she said. "He simply shared that God's ways are so much higher than our ways that we can not understand everything in the Bible. Our response should be faith, not doubting. He then told me that doubting was a sin. I left that day and suppressed those questions. This practice followed me for decades."

But eventually, the questions became too much. She let go of her Biblical literalism, which at first helped resolve her doubts about Biblical contradictions -- but this soon made room for other questions to press on her. "Things such as theodicy [the problem of suffering and evil], the question of hell, God's omnipotence yet lack of intervention in heinous events, the historicity of Jesus... all these bubbled to the surface and demanded to be answered," she said. "My work to answer these questions began with the thought that as I discovered the truth, it would create a stronger faith and give me comforting answers to those in my church who were dealing with the same issues. Instead, the truth I found led me away from faith."

Usury ain't politics unless it's

political economics....;}

The truth replaced by silence is evil and there's a lot of silence in the pulpit these days...

Usury's just one.

""My work to answer these questions began with the thought that as I discovered the truth, it would create a stronger faith and give me comforting answers to those in my church who were dealing with the same issues. Instead, the truth I found led me away from faith."

This experience is common among members of the Clergy Project. Clergy people, almost by definition, are people who take their faith seriously. They tend to think about religion carefully. They often (although not always) study their religion carefully. Unlike many believers, they actually read the Bible, or Torah, or Koran, or whatever the sacred text of their religion is. They think hard about questions that more casual believers are willing to let slide. After all -- that's their job."

And when I asked Jerry DeWitt -- Recovering From Religion executive director, Clergy Project graduate and new-member screener for CP -- what kinds of ideas and experiences most commonly lead clergy members to question and eventually leave their faith, he answered simply, "Religion's inability to answer for or relieve human suffering."

A traitor, that's who. An enemy of the United States and everything it stands for. We are all traitors here and should expect to be treated as such by those who have not yet awakened.

THIS is the reason He sent His guiltless Son Jesus Christ to take on ALL the sins of the world.

Well said.

Jim, one must be at peace with God before one can be peace with one self and then fellow man.

Jesus Christ is the only answer. It is all about Trust AND Obey.

Context is everything with respect the the Old Testament. Plucking out random scripture doesn't tell the story.

A very true statement. God has revealed He is Holy Holy Holy. We need to keep that in mind and stop trying to apply the fallen man's way or rationale to the actions of The Holy Holy Holy. Holy is stated three times for a strong reason.

The context is this:

It is not all about us, it is about Him. And within the context of all about Him, He has provided us a gift we do not deserve. And this Gift was God coming to the earth to suffer and die for us and then rise from the dead. He did this for us, and we don't deserve it, but God did it.

Make a thread dealing with your beliefs. Then invite me and all others that you think might contribute. This thread is too long (already) and takes too long to load.

Keep the thread as objective as possible.

I mean, you see for yourself that Climate change is occurring in your home town and you ridicule others for pointing this out.

Really?
