President Obama rallied with union workers at a Boeing plant in Washington, but he praised the manufacturing conducted by Boeing in South Carolina, even though his National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) tried to close the South Carolina plant at the behest of the Washington union workers. "So this company is a great example of what American manufacturing can do in a way that nobody else in the world can do it," Obama told the assembled workers this afternoon at the Everett, Wash., Boeing plant. "And the impact of your success, as I said, goes beyond the walls of this plant. Every Dreamliner that rolls off the assembly line here in Everett supports thousands of jobs in different industries all across the country. Parts of the fuselage are manufactured in South Carolina and Kansas," Obama also noted before mentioning factories in other states. The NLRB tried to close that South Carolina plant, though, after union workers in Washington argued that Boeing had built the new factory in South Carolina -- which is a right to work state -- in retaliation against the Machinist Union strikes that had slowed production in Washington state. The NLRB dropped the complaint in December after Boeing signed a new contract with the machinists The Washington Examiner's Philip Klein argued that the NLRB "helped unions shake down Boeing" by pushing the complaint, which would have cost over 1,000 non-union jobs in South Carolina, until the union received the new contract. "What's happening here in Everett can happen in other industries," Obama added today during his discussion of American manufacturing.

We start out our story with five little puppies that have dug hole under the fence to go for a walk in the world. After traversing the meadow, road, bridge and travel across the grass to the top of a hill they stop to count themselves. They count only to make it to four, "Where is that Poky little puppy?" They check down a couple sides of the hill only to find a caterpillar and lizard, but when they looked down at the bottom of the hill they find him with his nose to the ground. After making their way to the bottom they ask him what he is doing. He replies with, "I smell something." They all sniff and decide they smell "Rice Pudding." The puppies quickly scurry home, where their mother confronts them about the hole under the fence. Since they were bad they all had to go to bed. The poky little puppy snuck in late, long after the rest of the litter, ate all of the rice pudding and went to bed "as happy as a lark." The next morning the puppies found a sign at the fence, "Don't ever dig holes under this fence!" But of course they dug and made their way right back to the top of the hill they had visited the day before. Once at the top they counted themselves only to make to four, "Where is that poky little puppy?" The puppies check two side of the hill only to find a spider and a frog, but when they look down at the bottom of the hill there he is. The poky little puppy is sitting as still as can be, with his head tilted and his ears up. The puppies make their way down the hill and ask what he is doing. He replies with, "I hear something." They all listen and hear someone spooning chocolate custard into their bowls. They make their way home as quickly as possible, but are scolded once they arrive and are sent straight to bed. Of course the poky little puppy came back when everyone else was asleep and ate all of the custard on his own. The next morning the puppies found yet another sign saying, "Don't ever EVER dig holes under this fence!" Of course they dig and make their way back to the top of the hill. Again the poky little puppy never makes it to the top and the puppies come back down to see what he is doing. The poky little puppy had found a strawberry. They decided that Strawberry Shortcake must be waiting for them at home and they all scurry off. The puppies were scolded once again and sent to bed, but this night they stayed up late and snuck back to the fence to fill in the hole. There mother caught them and rewarded them for their good deed with the strawberry shortcake. When the poky little puppy came home he had to squeeze through the fence and he made it just in time to watch the rest of the litter eat the last of the shortcake. The poky little puppy went to bed feeling bad for himself. The next morning the poky little puppy finds yet another sign on the fence reading, "No desserts ever unless puppies never dig holes under the fence again!"
