TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's Ambassador to the United Nations Mohammad Khazaee blasted Israel for refusing the Non-Proliferation Treaty, and urged the international community to pressure the regime into joining the NPT.
"Iran considers Israel as the prime suspect in the field of possessing nuclear weapons and not abiding by the non-proliferation treaties (NPT). The international community should exert pressure on the Zionist regime to join the NPT," Khazaee added while emphasizing that the Islamic Republic of Iran is not pursuing military objectives in its nuclear program and that Iran is merely pursuing a civilian nuclear program.
Asked about the remarks by Israeli officials concerning Iran's nuclear program, he said that the Zionist regime is not in a position to comment on Iran's nuclear program.
"Israel has a long track record in criminal acts against the people of the world and also in assassinating Iranian nuclear scientists, hence it should be considered as a cancerous tumor in the Middle East region," Khazaee added.
Israel, the Middle East's sole nuclear power, possesses hundreds of nuclear warheads while it is not a signatory to the NPT or any other international convention.
The Zionist regime has never allowed UN inspectors to visit its nuclear sites or arsenals.
