Title: U.S. Jewish Leaders Visit Pollard In Prison, Call For Speedy Release

Richard Stone and Malcolm Hoenlein, the chairman and the executive vice chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, recently visited convicted Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard at Butner prison in North Carolina. The two U.S. Jewish leaders talked with Pollard for two hours. Following the meeting, the two expressed concern about Pollard's deteriorating health condition. "We've returned with a renewed commitment to work for Pollard's release," the two wrote in a statement after the visit. "We see this as a serious humanitarian issue and as a matter of justice." "Mr. Pollard suffers from multiple health challenges, which we believe add urgency for his release," the statement read. Stone and Hoenlein noted that Pollard reiterated to them that he regretted his actions and that he expressed the desire to be released from prison, build a family and be an active citizen. Activists for Pollard's release said that the visit was the first of a series of planned visits by American Jewish community leaders intended to express to importance and urgency they see in having Pollard released from incarceration by U.S. President Barack Obama. Recently, calls for Pollard's release have increased amongst current and former U.S. officials as well as leaders of the American Jewish community. Pollard was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1986 after being convicted of spying for Israel.

This is your forum, Stone - lead by example. I probably do that sometimes. But I think I keep it pretty much based on actions or comments. I disagree with you on a whole host of issues. But you hold your own here and are mostly respectful with everyone you agree with or disagree with.

That would be an action. If you support murdering babies it is a persons duty to speak out against it. We are called to judge righteous judgement. If someone is in favor of abortion. You can make certain determinations about their character. That is based on their words and actions.
That rationale allows you no responsibility for your own actions, something you said up thread that God would not approve of.

Their rights are the same as everyone else's. I just don't care for deadbeats the scam the system and sit around all day. They go get free food they didn't work for. That they could have worked for if they weren't conditioned to feel entitled to the fruit of other peoples labor. Can we agree that if you are productive you should be trying to find a job and work instead of living on welfare and food stamps?
I would use a dictionary to define work. I pretty much said that.

Are you trying to say we should have work programs for the poor? So if they are in a bad situation they can be helped?
Too bad the poor aren't allowed into the 12 foot high fenced vineyards to reap anything left in the rows after they have been summer pruned and thinned. Even the deer are shot on sight. Then they spray poison to prevent the fruit fly and moth infestation the rotting fruit attracts.

Most farmers work either directly or indirectly for corporations, which have an allergy to giving anything away, at least in a form that is not tax deductible.

Yes that is to bad. I think some of you liberals have good hearts. It is just people like me (I'm not rich by any stretch) don't like having to work hard then others get stuff for free that I have to work for. If there was some kind of way to help people out without giving them an entitlement mentality. That would be far better then what we have today. Just because I don't think my money should be taken and given away doesn't in any fashion mean that I or others don't have compassion for the poor and hurting people.
