I am only going to tell you ONCE...

If you don't like Newt, fine. Promote your own candidate.

If I see any more stuff that you post to destroy him, I will remove you.

I'm fed up.

and not just with YOU. With all the assassins.

LP WILL NOT BE ANY PART OF THE CHARACTER ASSASSINATION OF A CONSERVATIVE FOUNDER.

If you don't like it, post elsewhere.

I'm sorry you feel this way. But while you may have worked on a cpl issues with Newt, I worked with him and his staff for a cpl years. He is NOT a "CONSERVATIVE FOUNDER."

I will not say another word, as it is your site. But please do not try to sell me a pig in a poke. Thank You

That's my position. The difference between Obama and any opponent is so glaring it doesn't matter if it all comes down to measuring pins and needles. Who is more conservative is such a silly fight; no different that the ones here and elsewhere.

I'd probably feel differently if I was younger and energized to kick the traces but there's no oomph anymore for that kind of street fighting.

I don't see how the Republicans expect to win with the field they have but hell, I'd rather see them give up on POTUS and try to take the Senate and hold the House ridding themselves of McConnell & Bonoir so they can get something done against Obama.

We are screwed royally with 4 more years of Obama and Democrat Senate.

Interesting change of "heart" for a defender of the "gay brigade," a goat-herder, an active, card carrying ACLU member and a Democrat. When did you have your epiphany, this morning while realizing that your gal Sally has spread her legs for Newt Gingrich, one of the worst son-of-a-bitches to cloak himself in "Republican" cloth?

How utterly, quaint.

Not that it matters but I haven't been a Registered Democrat since February 2011, let alone a Liberal Democrat since McGovern and most certainly not a 'Progressive' ever. I still belong to the ACLU, defending those who are unfairly treated and still raise goats, and know enough about you to pity your family.

As far as Newt, I don't care if that's what it takes. I can't imagine it happening but I repeat myself.

OTOH: I don't think anyone with a legitimate complaint against a candidate should be SILENCED either.

For myself, I will vote for anyone (haven't made my mind up yet) if it keeps Obama out of the WH, but the one issue I dissagree with Newt about will affect this nation in ways most haven't stopped to think about.

IF he is elected he may grant amnesty to all the Illegal Aliens who have been here for so many years, and their families too so that they are not separated.

Sounds good if you DON'T stop to think about it....

But if he does get the chance to grant amnesty, citizenship, to tens of millions of Illegal Aliens and their extended families, you can bet Newt Gingrich will be the LAST CONSERVATIVE to ever hold the office of president, their sheer numbers will see to it that a Democrat is elected from that day on. "IF he is elected he may give amesty to all the Illegal Aliens who have been here for so many years, and their families too so that they are not separated.

Sounds crazy if you know the truth. There have been far more deportations since President Obama has taken office than we ever saw with the Bush Administration.

He's also put more boots on the border, and none of that is going to help him in getting Latinos and latinas to vote for him.

We are a nation of immigrants, so naturally a sound amnesty policy needs to pass Congress and be signed into law.

Too many good, hard working people have come here to live and work, and done so in a law biding manner to not give them a route toward citizenship.

All draconian anti-immirant laws have ever done is hurt a state's economy. Just look at Georgia and it's law that saw the farmers have to plow under their crops because though they tried, they could not get native born citizens to come out and do the work to help harvest their crops.

Your ignorance on the immigrant question is so breath taking it is mind boggling.

Obviously I don't pay attention to the specifics of any candidate since I'm not voting on issues, only against Obama. I cannot imagine any POTUS would be able to grant amnesty as you have described carte blanche.

There has to be some way to allow the illegals to fess up and get in line for citizenship here or back home without putting everyone in jail.

I certainly do not accept the idea that just because they have children there should be some 'early up'.

We do need to close the damn border.

I think the plan put together by Bush and almost passed by the Congress was a pretty good one. I don't remember the year but the vitriol at FR and LP against any kind of comfort was distressful. Some of the haters are still around but I've not seen Murron joining any pitchfork brigade.

We have used the services of immigrant/migrant labor in our operations in Wisconsin since 1993 and have had no particular problems with e-verify or local authorities. While I don't personally manage or monitor it when I was more active I always spent time meeting all the employees and their families. Some were transient and others lived here.

We did experience a lack of labor when all of the yelling was going on and it was noted in the local press how unusual it was to see so many caucasians in the fields and running the equipment.

There has never been any round-up here and I've not bailed out any more migrants than locals over the years.

Where do you stand on illegal immigration?

Gingrich: "If you've come here recently, you have no ties to this country, you ought to go home, period," Gingrich said. "If you've been here 25 years and you got three kids and two grandkids, you've been paying taxes and obeying the law, you belong to a local church, I don't think we're going to separate you from your family, uproot you forcefully and kick you out."

"I'm prepared to take the heat for saying let's be humane in enforcing the law without giving them citizenship, but by finding a way to create legality so that they are not separated from their families."

Question: How do you "create legality" for Illegal Aliens without granting amnesty, or citizenship?

Murron  posted on  2012-01-28   18:10:30 ET  Reply   Trace   Private Reply

Good post. I have lost jobs when I worked in the woods because of an influx of immigrant labor, and at my current job I am having to work harder because a company that is owned by immigrants consistently tries to outbid us and thus we have had to leave money on the table to keep clients, and more work is expected out of us all working there to make us competitive enough to stay in business,

However, that is the inherent nature of the free enterprise system, isn't it?

We will survive, and the nation will actually be stronger with the influx of people who have great work ethics, on the whole obey the law and do not cause trouble and add to our collective cultural melting pot.

I take people as they come, I do not snub someone for being Hispanic and from Mexico. Hell, I am a quarter Puerto Rican myself, and the Irish in me used to be very discriminated against complete with "No Irish Need Apply" signs, and slurs such as "Irish are White 'N' word people.

I have friends who were directly involved as workers in companies that killed the Reforestation firm I worked for. That's water over the dam. They are good people and i am proud to know the ones I call friends.

I guess that is where the 'get in line' part comes in for the ones that have been around a long time. You've got to have faith that the ones that want citizenship will ask for it and the others will chose to go back home and take their children with them.

Sounds fair enough to me.

"Question: How do you "create legality" for Illegal Aliens without granting amnesty, or citizenship?"

It's been done throughout our entire history, as there have always been people coming here illegally.

I have family back in New England who talk about the recent influx of Irish nationals now the economy has gone south there.

Many people here have descendants who were illegals from all over the world.

When they come here, prove their meddle by working hard, create new businesses, get education that make them valuable human assets because many others who were born and raised didn't bother to, or show in many other ways they are worthwhile candidates for citizenship, why be petty?

Opening the borders for a free for all, or draconian laws crippling Georgian agriculture are extremes that are no answer to the problem, so a compromise somewhere in the middle that calls for some amnesty just makes good sense.

His statements that Paul Ryan's meager attempts at budget cuts were "radical, right wing social engineering".

His siding with Pelosi on global warming and co-sponsoring 418 bills with her, he supported the healthcare individual mandate in his book, "Real Change", he was the Southern regional director for the Presidential campaign of liberal Republican Nelson Rockefeller, he was a lobbyist for ethanol subsidy recipients, he supported the bailouts and said he would have voted for TARP, he supported the funding of Planned Parenthood, has promoted the idea of a "cap and trade" carbon trading, supports amnesty for illegals, toured the country with Al Sharpton promoting the socialist education policies of the Obama administration...
