The FBI on Tuesday arrested four East Haven police officers on conspiracy and obstruction of justice charges following an investigation into possible civil rights violations.

Federal law enforcement officials said in indictment papers that Officers Dennis Spaulding, David Cari and Jason Zullo and Sgt. John Miller executed unreasonable searches and seizures, used unreasonable force and concealed their actions.

Mayor Joseph Maturo said the four men were arrested at about 6 a.m. Tuesday at their homes and at the police department.

Donald Cretella, Miller's lawyer, said his client has been honored with awards and risked his life in shootouts.

"John Miller is a hero in East Haven," he said. "He's decorated. He's a wonderful family man. Hopefully, we'll clear his name."

Federal officials say the officers denied Latino residents and their advocates the right to be free of unreasonable searches and seizures, the right to not be arrested and detained without probable cause and the right to not be arrested on false and misleading evidence.

The officers also are accused of harassing and intimidating individuals, including advocates, witnesses and other officers who tried to investigate or report misconduct or abuse committed by the four officers.

Maturo said he backs the police.

"I stand behind the police department," he said. "We have a great police department."

The U.S. Department of Justice said last month that the police department engaged in a pattern of discrimination against Latino residents. Investigators said their probe was complicated by efforts to interfere with witnesses and by police silence.

This article lacks the details of the alleged crimes.

You know what they are.

Al Pacino has a movie on it.

So does Stallone.

It's how you can tell we're in a Depression.

"Incomes for the vast majority of Americans are not keeping up with inflation. The "official" data shows that energy costs rose 6.6% in 2011, while food and beverage prices rose 4.5%. This latter number is not credible to anyone who did their own grocery shopping last year.

Americans are whipping out the plastic to pay for daily living expenses, or dipping into savings accounts. The overall savings rate is a misleading indicator of the actual level of distress felt by most Americans. Consider this quote from Joseph Stiglitz's The Book Of Jobs, which was published in the January, 2012 issue of Vanity Fair.

Even when we fully repair the banking system, we’ll still be in deep trouble—because we were already in deep trouble. That seeming golden age of 2007 was far from a paradise."

The TSA: Brazenly Strip-Searching and Just as Brazenly Lying About It

one of my constant themes was the unforgivable inaccuracy and moral blindness of those who maintained that the United States had committed a terrible "blunder," that the invasion and occupation of Iraq represented a failure of judgment, or a monumental "mistake."

It was none of those things. It was a hideous crime, in fact, an unending series of crimes. It still is. When commentators ask, "Why is the State doing this?," in the manner of the article about Megaupload, their question assumes that the government is making a mistake in some form, that the government has "bad" information or has failed to appreciate the consequences of its actions.

there is a direct correlation between a nation's power and influence,

and its reliance on myth and other public relations ploys. As the world's sole superpower, the United States via its ruling class saturates

its subjects at home and abroad with propaganda on a scale and with an intensity that have rarely been surpassed.

As is true of all propaganda, permissible viewpoints are confined within suffocatingly constricted boundaries of thought; variation of any moment from the prescribed guidelines is prohibited.

Yep. I can see it all around in my area. Suicides, foreclosures, one local guy just slowly drank himself to death at age 57 - he was broke and down. My next door neighbor passed away from cancer at age 51 about two weeks ago - for his wife's sake I hope he had life insurance or she'll lose the house, etc.

Life sucks lately for lots of people.

Life sucks lately for lots of people.

And it's going to take years to get better even if we replace the professional criminal class in DC.

Not that I think this is going to happen. The international bankers have been working on destroying America and freedom all over the world since the 1920's,and they are so close to their goal now they are going public with it. Thanks to a dumbed down electorate and population in general, the majority of people are behind them because they have been taught that freedom and being on your own are bad things, and you could rely of the government to take care of you.

And this doesn't matter if you are a welfare ghetto rat or a Harvard MBA and CEO of a large corporation. Or anything in between. Everybody has been taught to believe the government will take care of them.
