The Republican party may be for a rude awakening during their national convention in Tampa when delegates, of whom were pledged to other candidates, stand up and vote for Ron Paul. This is the crux of the whispered Tampa Strategy being run by the Paul campaign. Some in the media and on the Internet have begun to take notice. On January 19th, Erik Erikson of RedState.com noted: Several people who have been successful in getting themselves known as very probably Mitt Romney delegates for the Republican National Convention are... long time staunch Ron Paul supporters. During the Iowa caucus, many media outlets noted that after the voting was complete, the Ron Paul supporters stayed behind and were able to be elected in many of the precinct seats who choose the delegates for their state.
A long time Ron Paul supporter who was disturbed by this strategy and fears it may backfire on Paul, confided the background of this plan. Concocted by Pauls campaign manager, Jesse Benton, adviser, Jack Hunter, and chief of staff Lew Rockwell, the Tampa Strategy has little to do with winning elections; it is all about seating delegates. The strategy is pretty simple, get loyal Ron Paul supporters active in the camps of many of the top polling candidates of various states. Work specifically with those campaigns, donate if necessary, and do what is necessary to become a delegate for that candidate. When you get to Tampa, vote for Paul
The Ron Paul supporter who revealed this strategy has also directed us to look at the websites where Pauls campaigners organize and strategize. On these websites, the joke is dont talk about fight club. On sites such as the Liberty Forest, Daily Paul, and various MeetUp.com groups, the commentary hints that this strategy is multi state and well known. A recent post on Liberty Forest sums up the attitude: Delegates should not be talked about openly. If you are one of the delegates, don't tip your hand and let the GOP know who you are. Do not go around telling everyone about the strategy, or the rules will be changed, I guarantee it. Do not talk about fight club!!!!!
Will the Republican primary in Tampa be about the voters, or will the Tampa Strategy surprise the country? Dont talk about fight club!
