Yes.

My wife has been complaining about not re-painting one of the bathrooms in our home. She wants to change the colour and then change all the matching colour accessories to match. So, she has urged me to get off my ASS from my "captain's chair" located in the study where my hard wired servers are located and perform the painting requirements OR ELSE! I have explained to her that I am waiting for Mad Dog to come back to LF and resume posting but apparently he is history; still, I wait because of his refreshing and unique insight about the world around us from a dawg's perspective.

What should I do?

Buy the brushes needed and paint the bathroom. You can make up for it by getting off the internet. A paintbrush will only set you back about 12 bucks. Internet costs more. Pocket the difference.

You could provide specifications (through Stone told you what kind of brush to get), or I could use my own judgment and then you could complain that I got it wrong and "libtards are stupid".

I'm sorry to have to say this, but Stone has given you some bad advice.

There is absolutely no need to paint the bathroom.

Go down to the nearest dollar store. Locate the sunglasses rack, and from the myriad of lens colors available, simply select a pair, that, when worn by your wife, the color she sees while in the bathroom will be exactly what she is looking for (or "at" in this case).

VERY IMPORTANT: Do NOT let her wear the glasses in the rest of the house, because if she does, she'll demand that you paint every other room in the house EXCEPT the bathroom.

Strange bubbling on ceiling paint, somewhat looks like moisture through the drywall. But, when I climb into the attic I don't see water marks above these paint bubblings. I put newspaper around at various places (on the insulation, in the attic) above where the paint was doing this. Next time we have a good rain I'll climb up there and see if the paper has had any water on it. That was months ago, and many rains.

Also, the day after I was up there climbing around I notice more paint flaking in the center of the living room ceiling. God damn. I think when I was climbing around I flexed the ceiling joists and the paint flaked off. Possible?

Could the paint bubbling be from too high a humidity in the rooms at times?

Should I get my ass up in the attic and check the paper?

Why am I so eager to start projects and not finish them?

Etc.

I would check the newspaper you put down to see if it is wet. If so patch the roof first obviously.

Just scrape the bad stuff off the ceiling and patch it. With some powdered sheetrock number 20. The 20 in the number is working time until it sets. You can use 45 or 90 also. You just have to wait longer between coats. You might use a bonding primer before patching. That will hold what is up there together better. I also like using a bonding primer when patching and you are down to the brown paper layer under the outside layer of paper on the drywall. That seems to prevent it from bubbling up later.

Eric, in order to get my bathroom painted, you have to explain what a "libtard" is.

From here,

Libtard- As repetitive as it sounds, it stands for "liberal retard."

A libtard wants to live in a fantasy world (in which life is the way that they WISH IT WAS) as opposed to dealing with life the way it actually is.

(This explains the religious fervor that many of them demonstrate when it comes to smoking pot).

The most idealistic libtard envisions a time when science/technology and Socialism will eliminate all poverty, hunger, war, disease, injustice, unemployment and prejudice. (It is a nice pipe dream but human nature will forever stand in the way of that goal).

Most libtards subscribe to the notion that "people are basically good", and build their foundation for activism and "improving the human condition" on that faulty premise. Because they deny the facts about human nature, their "reasoning" is diametrically opposite to common sense (blue states vs. red states).

The reality that people have different initiative levels, are basically selfish, and often work for their own interests before helping others, puts a libtard's panties in a wad. So, when citizens will not voluntarily comply with various libtard prescriptions for "the common good", then laws must be passed, or force used, to MAKE them comply. (It is the gradual path to totalitarianism).

N. Combination of liberal and retard Used derogatorily by conservatives/Republicans for liberals/Democrats Pl. Libtards

"Libterd", related and created using possibly this word as a foundation, or possibly from a different source as a combination of Liberal and Terd, without the prior knowledge of Libtard Yea, Libtard, I guess you want free health-care too?!

Anyone not sufficiently conservative, as measured by fans of Fox News personalities, or AM hate radio hosts. "You WISH 'The Factor' was comically biased toward the right, libtard. Why do you hate America?"

a sarcastic fusion of the words "liberal" and "retard" by unoriginal conservatives who are trying to mimic "conservatard" which was coined to mock conservatives by fusing "conservative" and "retard" and correctly co-ops the "t" in "conservative" as the fusion point for the two words I should have expected that people who watch Fox News would have started using the word "libtard" instead of choosing an insult that rolls of your tongue like "liberat".

The moniker for liberals implying that their policies are retarded Did you hear that Libtard on MSNBC last night?

Bucky: "Please hurry, the sand is quickly running through the hourglass and my wife has a dough-roller standing over me.

Bucky, I hate to tell you this, but you're screwed.

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!” -- Samuel Adams --

I think someone told me once it is lime coming out of the mortar joints. Like I said I notice this happens when you tuck point or pour in cold weather. There used to be two kinds of chemicals you could add to your mortar that would allow your concrete/mortar to be done down to about 20 degrees. One packet you would often get the white bleeding out. The other packet didn't seem to have that effect. The cheap pack was about a buck and the other one was maybe 2 bucks. It is good for an 80 pound bag of premixed mortar/concrete. The good stuff is called Rapid Set.

Actually if you really want the white spots off. You might try some Muratic Acid. Diluted of course. Just scrub it with one of those plastic scrub brushes.

Lots of old used brick was made in the era where the stack of brick was unevenly baked and the result was some were not suitable for use in exterior walls and chimneys due to being too 'soft'. They tend to absorb water.

Thanks for the info. I use old brick sometimes. The guys I used to work for were specialists in Restoration work. They used it more often then me. They were big time liberals. I liked them though. One time I was giving one them a ride in my Truck. Rush Limbaugh was on. It was tense. It was in the Clinton Era.

Yes.

The contractor, most likely, did not flash the chimney correctly and so water coming down the roof does not deflect away from brickwork properly.

Did he replace the actual chimney or just the brick veneer?
