I didn't think much of it at first as every few months it seems to need it. But then it needed another early this AM and reboots didn't seem to address the problem. It appeared to be a Denial of Service type attack but the log signatures appeared to be from Microsoft's "Bing" search engine. I'm keeping a closer eye on things today and will start blocking IP addrs if I can find a pattern of abuse coming from a consistent set of IP's.
