Mitt Romney, Polygamy, Racism and the Mormon Church

One of the main concerns I believe people should have when choosing a president is the moral character of that person. Case in point is obviously the Mitt Romney topic. If this guy supports the Mormon Church then of course his tithe money is going to be sent to Salt Lake City. Remember, those are your tax dollars.

Now if Mr. Romney believes and condones what the Church does then I can tell you straight up that he’s not going to believe Mormonism has any culpability in the debauchery still going on with the residual fruits of Joseph Smith.

The LDS Church will not admit that because of Joseph Smith’s philandering ways there has arisen many sectors of his so-called restoration of the gospel. And the adoration they pour forth for this man is and should be questionable, but you won’t find any questions like this coming from Mitt Romney. If he can’t question the moral character of someone like Joe Smith shouldn’t that tell us something about Mr. Romney’s decision making process? Read our latest thought of the day about Mormonism and Joe Smith’s way of thinking here http://lifeafterministry.wordpress.com/2012/01/02/thought-of-the-day-about-mormonism-32

Writing about the various problems arising from the sects of Mormonism has been sitting on a back shelf of my to-do-list for years now and while I may or may not get to all that I have to say regarding this subject one thing is very clear in my mind.

Polygamy breeds incest.

There is nothing, and I do mean nothing, that gets me moving faster than when someone steps in to defend those who practice this nauseating, slime-ball behavior. The iniquitous conduct of Mr. Joseph Smith still permeates the Mormon psyche today as I write this. His “residual fruits” of Mormonism are found in the likes of Warren Jeffs, Kody Brown, Tom Green, Rulon Jeffs and the rest of them.

The mainstream Mormon Church can give all the publicity statements they want when telling the public at large these aren’t part of the Mormon Church but the truth is that these miserable groups are cut from the same cloth. The Book of Mormon is waved proudly from their pulpits and remember; this is what Romney reads. I’m praying he also reads the article I saw in the Huffington Post today about this subject.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/sam-brower/sister-wives-_b_952693.html

The author and editors should be applauded for standing up and speaking truth. The author, Sam Brower, spoke of the effects of polygamy and what you don’t see behind the scenes. Birth defects, illegally taking government welfare money, underage brides and STD’s are but a few of the problems incurred when living that lifestyle. The detail and thought that went into his article are important reminders to all of us why polygamy was outlawed to begin with and should continue to be so.

Is Mitt Romney a Racist?

First of all, Mitt Romney has been raised a devout Mormon. He’s a leader in the group. The founder, Joseph Smith, was actually an abolitionist who vehemently fought against the ills of slavery and welcomed Blacks into his new religion replete with its own bible,

The Book of Mormon, was written by members of this group. Smith’s successor was Brigham Young, who indeed was a racist, and who introduced the doctrine that Blacks were descendents of Cain, the bad son of Adam and Eve.

Thus, they were cursed with the mark of Cain (their Blackness) and are forbidden entry into heaven and prohibited from the priesthood of the Mormon Church. This started as Jim Crow laws were being written throughout the nation during the late 1800’s and post Reconstruction.

It wasn’t until 1978 that the Mormon Church felt encouragement to change this policy. In the meantime the Romney families were thriving under it. A member of the Carter Administration’s Justice Department decided that if the Mormon Church wants to embrace a racist doctrine they should no longer be given 501©3 tax exemption status.

As the federal government was about to make its move, the Church proclaimed that God visited their president and twelve apostles and proclaimed the curse lifted. Blacks from here on have a chance beyond Hell. How convenient.

Very recently, well known Black Republican J.C. Watts publicly complained that the Romney presidential campaign was absolutely void of Blacks, Hispanics or any other ethnicity other than white.  It was lily white and this needed to be corrected proclaimed the former Black congressman from Oklahoma.  When approached about J.C.’s comments on CNN News, Mitt Romney retorted, “What’s the charge?  Is there something wrong with that?”  He then explained that he hired only the best workers and if that means an all white staff – so be it.

This, my brother and sisters, is “bigot code”.  It is the same thing they would say to keep us out of the military, college and professional sports, the better public institutions and corporate offices.  It wasn’t because of racism but that we just weren’t good enough and that’s how God made it.  It falls right along with the “Cain Curse Doctrine”.

Slick haired Romney is starting to appear to be very arrogant for all the wrong reasons.  It is an aura about him that smells anti-American and anti-Christian.  He appears to be a blast from the past and that is not good for us as a whole and harmonious society.

Is Mitt Romney a racist?  Racial slurs, racist upbringing, racist slights, racist hiring and racist excuses – seems like an easy question.

Racism Is At The Very Heart Of The Book Of Mormon

The doctrine of the LDS church is that the ancient inhabitants of the American continent were wicked and that a sign of their wickedness was a dark skin. (See I have to agree with the kid on this one as posted in the "How do you..." thread started by Ed.)

Alma 3: 6 "And the skins of the Lamanites were dark, according to the mark which was set upon their fathers, which was a curse upon them because of their transgression and their rebellion against their brethren, who consisted of Nephi, Jacob, and Joseph, and Sam, who were just and holy men."

This same racist approach to people of color was the basis for denying people of African descent from partaking of priesthood blessings, a clear indication of which was their dark skin. According to the church the dark skin was a mark placed upon Cain and his posterity so they would not be killed. (Gen. 4: 15)

The church officially claimed from the pulpit for many, many years that a dark skin identified those who were cursed and could not receive the priesthood. Then, magically, the lord washed it all away by telling Spencer Wooley "It's all good. They're forgiven. Give them the PH."

LDS Church warns Young Men against Interracial Marriage

C. L. Hanson excerpts the following quote from the current Aaronic Priesthood manual over at the Latter Day Main street:

“We recommend that people marry those who are of the same racial background generally, and of somewhat the same economic and social and educational background (some of those are not an absolute necessity, but preferred), and above all, the same religious background, without question” (“Marriage and Divorce,” in 1976 Devotional Speeches of the Year [Provo: Brigham Young University Press, 1977], p. 144).
