Just thought we needed a thread so that those who wanted to dump on Rick Santorium could do so now that he's rising in the polls.....

Santorum wants to: Replace the current individual rate structure with just two rates—10 and 28 percent Lower rates on capital gains and dividends to 12 percent Triple the personal exemption for dependent children and keep the refundable earned income and child tax credits Retain tax preferences for charitable giving, mortgage interest, health care, and retirement savings Repeal the Alternative Minimum Tax Cut the corporate rate in half to 17.5 percent. Manufacturers would pay no income tax Allow full expensing for capital investment Increase the R&D tax credit to 20 percent Allow multinationals to bring foreign earnings back to the U.S. at a 5.25 percent tax rate but at a zero rate if they used the funds to buy “manufacturer’s equipment”
Wow! How does he propose to pay for all these goodies?
There are no spending proposals here. How do you expect families to save for their kids college if they have to pay so many taxes? The family is much more important then any government.
Like voting 8 times to raise the debt ceiling?
Millions of dollars to be spent on the bridge to nowhere? A teapot museum in North Carolina? A $50 million indoor rain forest in Iowa? Santorum is probably better then Newt or Romney. I will give him that.
You seem to have a problem discerning 'economic ideas' from items in a spending bill. No surprise here.
Santorum dumped on himself when he supported Democrat Snarling Arlin for a US Senate seat over Toomey, a true conservative. He has no standards and he has no principles over those the RINO Party is willing to allow him to have.

I have heard that was paybacks for something Toomey had done to him, but am not sure what it was over......

Santorum claims his support for the imcumbant was because Spector was good on supreme court justices. Alito and Roberts were both approved with Spector's help.
It was done because Boy Jorge needed Snarlin' Arlen's support to get a bill passed. Don't remember what the bill was about at this late date,but if both Boy Jorge and Specter wanted it passed,it couldn't have been good for the Republic.

Thanks for the memory nudge,even though it was Boy Jorges lesbian pal (Harriet Meyers?) that was the lawyer for the Born Again church were he got "cured" of his homosexuality. She couldn't make it,so they went with either Alito or Roberts. Can't remember which one was up at bat at the time.
