(playing of Ron Paul spoof) RUSH: Actually it's a commercial for Washington Republicans, not Ron Paul. Here is Ron Paul in the debate last night. This is Bret Baier. I thought the Fox moderators did a good job last night, too. I thought it was good. (interruption) Yeah, "fair and balanced," they were good. Bret Baier: "Congressman Paul, many Middle East experts now say that Iran may be less than one year away from getting a nuclear weapon. Now, judging from your past statements, even if you had solid intelligence that Iran, in fact, was going to get a nuclear weapon, President Paul would remove the US sanctions on Iran, including those added by the Obama administration. So to be clear: GOP nominee Ron Paul would be running left of President Obama on the issue of Iran?" PAUL: You know what I really fear about what's happening here? It's another Iraq coming! It is war propaganda going on, and we're arguing... To me the greatest danger is that we will have a president that will overreact, and we will soon bomb Iran -- and -- and the sentiment is very mixed. We ought to really sit back and think and not jump the gun and believe that we are going to be attacked. That's how we got into that useless war in Iraq and lost so much in Iraq. RUSH: Now, you may have astutely noticed that Ron Paul didn't answer the question? So Bret Baier, after the applause died down, said, "Congressman Paul, the question was based on the premise that you actually had solid intelligence as President Paul" that they got a nuke. We're not talking about being on the come. "I'm asking you about solid evidence they've got one, and yet you still at that point would pull back US sanctions -- and, again, as a GOP nominee, be running to the left of Barack Obama on this issue?" PAUL: Yes. Eh, eh, all we're doing is promoting their desire to have it. They are surrounded! They have a desire -- and how do we treat people when they have a nuclear weapon? With a lot more respect. What did we do with Libya? We talked to them, we talked them out of their nuclear weapon and then we killed him. So it makes more sense to work with people and the whole thing that nuclear weapons are loaded over there. Pakistan. India. Israel has 300 of 'em! We have our ships there. We gotta get it in a proper context! BAIER: All right. PAUL: We don't need another war. RUSH: (impression) "We don't need another war. I mean, we have enough! We ought to do what we did to Libya: Take their nuuuukes away and theeeen kill 'em." Baier said, "Congresswoman Bachmann," and this is her opening. She wanted to seize on this. "Congresswoman Bachmann, today's the official end of the US military operations in Iraq. There's real concern, as you know, about growing Iranian influence inside Iraq. Also the deputy prime minister there has expressed concerns about the country possibly slipping into a civil war. Are there any circumstances, as president, where you would send US troops back into Iraq?" BACHMANN: With all due respect to Ron Paul, I think I have never heard a more dangerous answer for American security than the one that we just heard from Ron Paul. We know without a shadow of a doubt that Iran will take a nuclear weapon; they will use it to wipe our ally, Israel, off the face of the map; and they've stated they will use it against the United States of America. Look no further than the Iranian Constitution, which states unequivocally that their mission is to extend jihad across the world and eventually to set up a worldwide caliphate. We would be fools and knaves to ignore their purpose and their plan. RUSH: Okay, Congressman Paul, she just called you a lunatic and an insaniac. What is your reply. (Well, I'm adding a little color there, but that's basically the implication.) What's your reply, Congressman Paul. PAUL: To declare war on 1.2 billion Muslims and say all Muslims are the same, this is dangerous talk. Yeah, there are some radicals. But they don't come here to kill us because we're free and prosperous. Do they go to the Switzerland and Sweden? RUSH: Yeah. PAUL: I mean that's absurd! What is the whole world about the drone being in Iran and we're begging and pleading and how we're gonna start a war to get this drone back? Why were we flying a drone over Iran? Why do we have to bomb so many countries? You're trying to dramatize this that we have to go and treat Iran like we've treated Iraq and kill a million Iraqis and 8,000-some Americans have died since we've gone to war. You cannot solve these problems with war! RUSH: Okay, now, I got a question in the e-mail. Somebody said, "Well, wait a minute. Didn't Ron Paul just admit that Libya had a nuclear program and so why is it so hard to believe Iran has one?" Ron Paul wants them to have a nuclear program. This is what people are missing. He says (paraphrased): "Look, when you have a nuclear bomb is when you're respected. Take a look at the way we dealt with the Soviets in the Cold War for 30 years as opposed to what we're doing with Iraq. We're talking about bombing Iraq off the face of the earth. We're talking about bombing a billion people! (Ron Paul impression) We never talked that way about the Russians because they had the same number of boooombs pointed at us! If you were Iraaaan you'd want a nuclear boooomb, too. Besides, the only reeeeason they want nuuuuclear weapons, because we're making 'em dooo it. It's our fault. If you were in Iraaaan, and you had to face these evil Americans, you'd want a bomb, tooooooo!" Anyway, this was the, say, highlight of the night for Congressman Paul. There are memorable moments in each debate. That little exchange was his.

Rush Is A CFR Member And A Con Artist Rush Limbaugh is now a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, proving he is a con-artist. He can't afford to be honest. "Limbaugh's truth is Janus-faced. Rush probably supported GATT thinking that since he is a conservative and conservatives are for GATT, then he must be for it. [Ed. note: Could it be someone tells Rush what to say? Yes!] Another attractive feature of Rush is his narcissism. he becomes "intoxicated by the sound of his own voice... and seldom resists the urge to launch into long soliloquies. But like a drunkard, he rarely remembers specifics from some of these majestic diatribes." His lack of consistency causes him to make some of the most ludicrous contradictory statements ever uttered by a radio jock. In a fit of rage he branded all moderates as poltroons and a few minutes later he called Colin Powell a moderate. He was slammed between a rock and a hard place when a caller pointed out this blatant contradiction and asked if Rush considered Colin a coward. He had nowhere to hide. He denied making the statement, treated the intelligent woman with contempt, and cut her off. Rush also has a bad habit of changing his positions frequently. He backed NAFTA to the hilt helping it squeak through, but when the Mexican financial crisis didn't fair well with the American people, Rush turned his back on NAFTA and said Mexico should not be bailed out. Rush does whatever he thinks will make him a success. He started his radio career spinning records in the 1980s. He jumped on the conservative bandwagon and became a radio talk jock. He spent most of his time talking about how great he is and he still does. Rational people consider him to be more of a cockatoo than a conservative. "But many regard him as a charming buffoon with an amusing line of patter, a sort of conservative-lite combined with low-brow comedy just short of whoopee cushion schtick." The clown act worked and his audience grew. Sadly, many middle-class Americans accepted him as their spokesman. Rush knows that he isn't a tenth of the man he claims to be and rarely lets anyone on who is smarter than him. His screener does a good job at keeping rational people off the air. He doesn't want to risk "getting his head handed to him. It doesn't make good business sense, and his audience might start thinking their emperor has no clothes." If he didn't have his screener weed out the intelligent callers he might "tangle with someone with better than the room-temperature IQ he faces every day on the radio; he would be rhetorically eviscerated in short order. "Limbaugh will never place himself in a forum where anyone with a lick of sense can have at him. If he does, he knows, the game is up." Rush mocks people that believe there is a group of wealthy people who run the country for their benefit. "Perhaps because he is a fairly recent member of the Council on Foreign Relations, Limbaugh has taken pains to ridicule those who fear the possibility that there indeed may be people in high echelons of government, banking, and industry who may not have the best interests of the country as a whole, or its citizens, upper-most in mind. But instead of rational discussion, Limbaugh instead parodies them with his kook test." Even though Rush claims he doesn't believe in any kind of a conspiracy he constantly bewails the control of the press by the liberals. "Relentlessly slamming the mainstream media--charging they are part of some preposterous conspiracy or are the lap-dog lackeys of liberals--has convinced many ditto heads that nothing they say is true. Meanwhile, Limbaugh has foisted great gobs of his own propaganda into the vacuum, all of it at least as untrue as the other. He's convinced ditto heads that they are now wily, independent thinkers, while in fact all they have done is exchange one poisoned information trough for another." It is this kind of nonsensical rhetoric which destroys his credibility. The most annoying aspect of Rush is his false modesty. He claims that he is very uncomfortable talking about himself, yet that is all he does. It should be noted that Rush doesn't support the pro-life position. "You people out there who have this pro-life paranoia need to realize that it's just one issue," he boldly said (Oct. 25, 1995). Rush is nothing but a carnival barker trying to get people to buy something they don't need. He mixes in self-flattery with pseudo-conservatism and pushes his books, newsletter, videos, ties and nose bandages that keep people from snoring. Rush sounds like a "high-coiffed televangelist" and leads some to realize they got something entirely different than they thought they were getting. Rush is nothing but a "pop messiah" who is "perfect for a sound-byte society. Real in-depth policy wonkers can't draw a crowd because the issues are complicated and intellectuals are often boring." Ditto heads will blindly follow Rush into the sea like the snakes followed St. Patty if they don't pull their heads out and take a look at reality. Rush was given an opportunity to respond to this article before press, but refused to. The fallacy in this question is the assumption that being hawkish and placing sanctions on another nation is 'conservative' and therefor Paul would be to the left of Obama. This assumption is, of course, ridiculous. If the traditional American position is one of non-intervention and a humble foreign policy, then sanctions against another nation cannot be conservative. The correct assumption would be that Paul is far to the right of Obama AND the current hawkish, "mainstream" Republicans.

OK, I followed your link, read the entire page and didn't see anything, anywhere to the effect that Ron Paul wanted to do away with the US Armed Forces. I also found "Political positions of Ron Paul" here... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_positions_of_Ron_Paul and I don't see it anywhere there either. Then I did a google search of "ron paul wants to do away with the armed forces" and found nothing about it there either. I found that Ron Paul wants to do away with the Federal Reserve. And the IRS. But nothing at all about doing away with the US Armed Forces. Are you sure you didn't just make that up?
