Sara Spafford Freeman, a 33-year-old communications consultant, has been a Kelly Clarkson fan since the singer’s "American Idol" days. But after she saw Clarkson’s Twitter endorsement of Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul, Spafford Freeman decided she could no longer endorse Clarkson.

“I used to like Kelly Clarkson. But I can't like anyone who is either ignorant enough or arrogant enough to endorse a candidate like Ron Paul,” Spafford Freeman told Fox411 on Thursday from her home in Minnesota. “I have listened to ‘Since You've Been Gone’ for the last time.” Spafford Freeman’s comments are just part of the pushback the platinum-selling superstar and inaugural "American Idol" winner has been getting since she announced her support of Paul Wednesday night.

"I love Ron Paul,” Clarkson tweeted. “I liked him a lot during the last Republican nomination and no one gave him a chance. If he wins the nomination for the Republican party in 2012 he's got my vote. Too bad he probably won't."

Many of Clarkson’s Twitter followers immediately demanded that she retract her statement, but so far she’s refused.

Among Clarkson’s critics on Twitter was user @kat_george, who tweeted:

Ew just found out Kelly Clarkson luvs Ron Paul lyk, 4eva and stuff. Soz Kelly, not your fan anymore.

And there was this one from @waflanagan:

Oh Jebus Kelly Clarkson is a Ron Paul fan. My love for you has taken a severe hit, Kelly...

Paul, who like Clarkson hails from Texas, has been roundly criticized over the last few weeks for having published a series of newsletters in the 1980s and ’90s that included racist and homophobic remarks. The newsletters’ content was revealed when Paul ran for president in 2008, but they got less attention because the congressman was never a front-running candidate.

Polls currently show Paul neck-and-neck in next week’s Iowa caucuses with Mitt Romney. His policy platforms include significantly cutting military spending overseas and returning the country to the gold standard.

Clarkson responded to her critics by saying that she supported Paul because of his stance on limited government.

“I am really sorry if I have offended anyone. Obviously that was not my intent. I do not support racism. I support gay rights, straight rights, women's rights, men's rights, white/black/purple/orange rights,” she tweeted after being lambasted online.

“I like Ron Paul because he believes in less government and letting the people (all of us) make the decisions and mold our country. That is all. Out of all of the Republican nominees, he's my favorite."

Clarkson also tweeted that she had, “never heard that Ron Paul is a racist or a homophobe."

Now the question is whether her political views will alienate a considerable portion of her fan base.

“Kelly Clarkson has a very strong fan base of people who love her music and respect her as a person for her bold expression of her individuality time and time again,” says In Touch senior editor Dorothy Cascerceri. “Not every fan is going to care about her personal views, and when you have as loyal a fan base as she does, little will stop people from listening to her music, buying her CDs and music online.”

Indeed many of Clarkson’s fans stood by her on a forum on her website.

“Im glad Kelly stuck up for her opinion, that's what I love about her!" KellyFan_2011 posted Thursday afternoon on the forum. "She doesn't let any people push her around and its a really a shame, that some people rudely attack her because they have a different political opinion, she doesn't deserve that."

But not everyone agrees.

"For some Paul is seen as a homophobe and a racist. So for her fans, that may be sending them a message that she concurs with his homophobic and racist ideals," explains "Cult of Celebrity" author Cooper Lawrence. "This is a problem since she does have a wide variety of die hard fans which include gays and a wide range of ethnicities who are offended by her endorsement."

Why?

Way to big and broad a response would be needed on particulars from foreign policy to immigration issues.

By trust, it's not that he's anyone I know to be anything but a seemingly nice guy.

But as a politician with all that entails, he is a guy who has acquired the knack of coagulating a group of pissed off people behind a bunch of not attainable sloganisms. Sloganism directed at libertarians, conservatives, constitutionalists, liberals, anarchists, AWS protestors, passivist quakers etc....

He's got everything for "every man".

He's a smart guy. Clearly. He knows the limitations of the office. Knowing what he does and that 90% of what he preaches is well beyond the scope of anything he as a self identified / polarizing "maverick" POTUS could ever come close to even bringing up for hearings etc ---- well that makes him disengenous at least to me.

IE: not trustworthy.

Death to everybody who does not get outta my way. (decided to retire the beatdowns on old worthless retread posters that are bozoed)

Kelly Clarkson Loses Some Fans Over Her Endorsement of Ron Paul

This demonstrates how hateful and spiteful the left is.

Many people on the "right" like the music and acting of people who hold opposite political views.

When a singer or actor exposes non-leftist political views, leftists attack them.

This is extraordinarily instructive. Leftists are 100% about politics. They view they entire world through a very lens. This is why they need to be exposed and defeated.

Singer Kelly Clarkson's endorsement of Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul on Twitter Thursday cost her some long-time fans but those new ones are pushing her higher in the charts.

In an apparent shedding of skin, perhaps of even those who already had her album, Ms Clarkson's loss of previous devotees gained her new ones in Dr Paul supporters pushing her album Stronger to number 14 on Amazon.com's best selling list within 24 hours.

By Friday it was at 13, up 28 spots from her former rank at number 41. Endorsed: Kelly Clarkson's album Stronger rose to number 13 on Amazon's best selling list Friday - up from 41 - after endorsing Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul

'I can't recall ever hearing Miss / Mrs Clarkson's music before but I support her in an obvious assault on her character by the Media for expressing her beliefs to her fans,' one Amazon.com customer commented in a growing forum of mixed Dr Paul and now Ms Clarkson fans storming the album's page.

Another customer wrote that they just bought two just to show their thanks to her.

'Our goal is to put Miss Clarkson at #1 in sales as a show of our love for her taking a stand and not letting ANYONE sway her love of Ron Paul!' a third customer wrote. Applause: Many customers reviewing their recent order of her album commented that they hadn't heard of her before, she wasn't their music style or that they bought more than one in thanks

Ms Clarkson's original tweet of 'I love Ron Paul. I liked him a lot during the last republican nomination and no one gave him a chance,' while promising her vote if he wins the Republican ticket, was immediately attacked by many of her own fans.

Despite this, a post by the GOP candidate's supporters on TheDailyPaul.com providing readers with a link to the Amazon.com album page, asked for help to put her latest album in the top 10.

'Her latest album Stronger is currently #41 in Amazon's Best Sellers list and #15 on iTunes - let's get it back to the top of charts!' the post writes.

As of Friday, Ms Clarkson's Stronger album moved up to number 13 on iTunes with a separate iTunes session album taking its number 15 spot.

'Maybe the small surge in sales will be noticed by other musicians who are skeptical or afraid to come out in support - for as we all know truth is treason in an empire of lies,' the post by LibertyBoy concluded Thursday. Twitter: The singer received a lot of derogatory comments from her followers after endorsing Ron Paul though she then apologized for upsetting anyone

Some cited racist and homophobic newsletters published under Dr Paul's name from the 1970s to the mid-1990s as fuel for their anger to her endorsement.

After alluding to not knowing about these claims against Dr Paul, some lashed out further.

'That's because you willfully ignoring his voting record, his statements, interviews, newsletters, and policy positions,' one follower Tweeted at her.

'You are obviously living under a rock. I don't even live in the United States and hear about his stupidity,' Tweeted another fan from abroad.

Ms Clarkson argued back: 'I am about progress. Ron Paul is about letting people decide, not the government. I am for this.'

Dr Paul has said he didn't write the newsletters criticized and neither agrees with them.

Acting unaware of the controversy, Ms Clarkson responded to one Twitter follower: 'I love all people and could care less if you like men or women.'

Responding to others critical of her decision, she also posted several tweets that were a variation of: 'Because you don't agree with me, I'm stupid. Very mature response.' ''I do not support racism. I support gay rights, straight rights, women's rights, men's rights, white/black/purple/orange rights. I like Ron Paul because he believes in less government and letting the people (all of us) make the decisions and mold our country'

The 'Miss Independent' singer also elaborated on her views by saying: 'I don't believe in the death penalty. Most Republicans do but not me.'

Clearly worried about the bad feeling she57;d stirred up, she added in an extended tweet, 'I am really sorry if I have offended anyone. Obviously that was not my intent.

'I do not support racism. I support gay rights, straight rights, women's rights, men's rights, white/black/purple/orange rights.

'I like Ron Paul because he believes in less government and letting the people (all of us) make the decisions and mold our country.

She said of her political views: 'I am a Republican but I actually voted Democrat last election.'

With the Iowa caucuses just days away, Dr Paul is the latest candidate to enjoy a sudden surge.

He and former Massachusetts Gov Mitt Romney led in a CNN/Time poll released yesterday.

In Ms Clarkson final posting Thursday, she reflected on the anger her Twitter page had received, making a final conclusion consisting of:

'I was raised to respect people and their decisions and beliefs and I hope you will grant me the same decency. If you don't agree with me simply unfollow me.'

Many of which, did.

Again, GOOD for her! ****thumbs UP!****

“Contemplate the mangled bodies of your countrymen, and then say 'what should be the reward of such sacrifices?' Bid us and our posterity bow the knee, supplicate the friendship and plough, and sow, and reap, to glut the avarice of the men who have let loose on us the dogs of war to riot in our blood and hunt us from the face of the earth? If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!” -- Samuel Adams --

Economics is a social phenomenon and in no way a “science”, no matter how desperately its high priests would like to have it believed otherwise. It is, instead, a branch of anthropology and the sooner that is recognized and accepted, the better off human-kind in general and the world of academic economics, in particular, shall be proximity1

We probably will see widespread civil disorder in the 1980s, as a direct result of our faltering economic system. Ron Paul

IMO She doesn't stand out from the female singer herd.

Good thing there is an American Idol, I doubt she could have made it the old fashioned way.
