As I watch and listen to more of the pre-election babble it becomes ever more apparent the only viable candidate the Republican Party has at this time is Ron Paul.

One thing that convinces me of that is the continuing Republican attempt to silence him, ignore him and to pretend he doesn't exist, that he's not really there. None of the other candidates get this treatment, only Dr. Paul. Over the years he is the only one that has been consistent on the issues he deals with. It would appear he has something to say the political establishment, Republican and Democrat, does not want the American people to hear. What are they afraid of?

No more glaring example of this is the reaction of the governor of Iowa to the fact that Paul is leading in the Iowa caucuses. Two major polls show him leading. The Iowa governor's reaction is a Paul victory should be ignored and people should concentrate on candidates who finish second and third. An Internet news site americanvisionnews.com says it this way: "Now how's that for listening to the will of the people? Iowa, you've got a governor who thinks no matter how the vote turns out, he's going to ignore you and dictate what candidate he thinks you should have."

I haven't been able to watch all the debates. I have picked up some here and there, including the one where they only gave Paul 89 seconds at the end to state his positions while others had more than ample time. If he were just a kooky candidate they wouldn't mind his talking because he would eventually look foolish and the other candidates would benefit.

You can be pro-abortion like Rudi Guiliani and be in good standing in the GOP.

You can be in favor of government controlled healthcare like Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich and be in good standing in the GOP.

You can be a big spending nincompoop like George Bush and be in good standing in the GOP.

However, if you against endless wars in the middle east, then you are Persona non grata in the GOP.

In a very real way, the GOP's only true litmus test any more is pummeling Muslims.

Thank the big government, ex-leftist, war mongering neo-cons for this.
