Appearing on Fox News Channels Red Eye last night, conservative firebrand and frequent courter of controversy, Ann Coulter told the panel that if the choice for the Republican presidential nominee came down to Texas Rep. Ron Paul or former House Speaker Newt Gingrich she would prefer Paul.
She stops short of suggesting that she would vote for Paul in a third party bid as conservative radio host Glenn Beck recently suggested, but Coulter has serious reservations (like most editorial board GOPers) about Gingrichs big government conservatism.
While Coulter curries much favor among the Tea Party Republican set, not all who are inclined to agree with her combative Republicanism agree with her.
Popular conservative columnist Joshua Treviño took to Twitter to echo the sentiments of many in the Republican establishment when he colorfully expressed his reservations about Pauls untraditional foreign policy perspectives.
If its Barack Obama versus Ron Paul, I'm voting for the guy who thought shooting Osama bin Laden in the face was a good idea, Treviño tweeted.
He is most assuredly not alone. Among the 50+ retweets this comment generated, one of them was Anyone But O 2012 a draft Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) for president twitter account.
Poster Comment:
I wonder what she has against Newt. It seems to me they agree on more. Now all she has to do is admit Paul is better then pro abort pro tarp Romney.

Yep,
You can be pro-abortion and be a Republican in good standing (like Rudy Guiliani).
You can be for government controlled healthcare and be a Republican in good standing (like Mitt Romney).
You can dramatically grow the size and scope of government and be a Republican in good standing (like George Bush).
But, if you aren't dedicated to endless wars in the Middle East, you are Persona non grata in the GOP.
