With all this talk of cutting the budget,WHY are we still paying a VERY generous retirement check out for a position that only requires 4 years of work at the minimum and 8 years at the maximum?

Not to mention free medical care and transportation for life?

After all,it ain't like these guys are going off to life a live of poverty. They all make multi-millions giving speeches, agreeing to have their names on corporate boards, etc, etc, etc.

We should also DEMAND that Congresscritters and Senators retire on SS just like the rest of us,instead of receiving a VERY generous life-long pension and free medical care for life for just serving from 2 to 6 years minimum.

What makes them so special they don't have to live by the very laws they vote in effect?

Just putting them in the same retirement category as the rest of us would save billions. Yeah, this won't solve the budget crisis all by itself, but it would be a damn good place to start. Subscribe to *Politics and Politicians*

Pensions were created for presidents because several did go off and live in poverty.

I understand, but now ain't then. Every president since LBJ has left office as a multimillionaire.

Ain't it about time we stopped subsidizing multimillionaires? How many other jobs are there where you can retire after 4 years with full benefits and pay?

And how many jobs reguire one's undivided attention for four years 24/7 as the world's most powerful person?

So,you admire Nixon and the Bush Crime Family, and am more than happy to pay taxes to support people like that?

Or is it just because your Chocolate Messiah is in office that you are suddenly such a big fan of subsidizing multimillionaires?

What ex-presidents get in retirement benefits is chump change when compared to oil company execs, for instance.

Pressed on Big Oil’s supposedly low profit margins, Fox pointed out that Exxon CEO Lee Raymond’s retirement package was “$450 million dollars for doing a 90 hour job...

It doesn't seem to bother you that ...the pay package for ConocoPhillips’ top executive, Jim Mulva, went up by 25 percent last year to $17.9 million, money sucked from taxpayer subsidies and drivers’ wallets.

I see. Going by your value system,I guess a woman that is only gang-raped by 3 people has nothing to complain about if some other woman is gang-raped by 4 people.

That some set of standards you have, there. You must be very self-satisfied to be so moral.

Those are not my standards, they're straw men of your own creation. As for the rest - why would I take satisfaction in your creation?
