Shortly before leaving the governor's office in Massachusetts, Mitt Romney's administration spent nearly $100,000 of state money to purge computer and email records in an unprecedented attempt to wipe out the paper trail of his tenure. His staff took home hard drives from state-owned computers and erased emails and other communications from state servers, complicating current efforts to retrieve and review the records of Romney's four-year term that ended in 2007. It is not believed that Romney violated any laws, but according to state officials who spoke to Reuters, the move to scrub the digital archive of his administration was unusually thorough. Several members of his staff used their own money to purchase the hard drives of their state computers so that they could take them home after leaving their jobs. The staff also broke an existing lease on office equipment so that they could rent new "clean" computers at the end of their run, a move that cost the state $97,000 in additional funds. Romney claims that whatever record remains of his time in office — including possible details of what was erased — are not subject to state disclosure laws. However, like regulations governing the destruction of digital records, Massachusetts law is vague on what is and isn't allowed. The court ruling most likely to cover any disclosure ruling is from 1997 (well before most state business was done on email) and the state's official records law has not been updated to deal with digital records, meaning Romney could benefit from Massachusetts' failure to adapt to the 21st Century. The loss or potential sealing of Romney's Massachusetts records could become a huge issue in 2012, should he secure the Republican nomination. Those were the only four years that Romney ever spent in public office and how he ran his state will be a focal point of scrutiny for both voters and the media, particularly when it comes to the passage of his state health care law. Several news organizations are already working through freedom of information requests in the hope of combing through the historical record, but any legal complications regarding the release of those records — or the fact that many of them no longer exist — could delay any formal accounting of Romney's tenure until it's too late to make any difference. Sounds like that's just the way he would like it.

The control of information is a very well developed part of Mormon culture. This comes as no surprise to me.
Oh please... I know a ton of Morons. Almost without exception, every single Mormon I know is a hard working, family oriented, salt-of-the-earth American. I don't agree with their religious views. I certainly don't agree with RINO Romney's big government views. Still, I wish that there were more communities in America as dedicated to helping their members succeed as the Mormons. Certainly, it would be a major shift in the direction of our country if the black community learned something from the Mormons...
Mormons are very good at not being forthcoming about things. When I was in a Utah Special Forces Guard unit I heard how they preferred the boxed bladder whine containers because they are crushable and easily his in the trash. And as we had many law enforcement people in my unit, I heard about how decudent some of the elite leader's parties were, and they were well guarded and kept very hush hush. I said nothing about how good or bad they are, they just lead unreasonably hard to maintain lifestyles and know how to hide it when they don't do things exactly as they are supposed to. They also are not forthcoming as to what goes on in Temple, and they don't exactly advertise whom they have recently baptized by proxy. I don't dislike Mormons, I just have heard stuff that has taught me that they are just as fallibly human as anyone else.
How very "collective" like (or "commune-like", or in other words communist) from a "conservative" like ... you. It's really fun to watch the true colors come out at election time!!!!!!

There is a difference between government coercion and doing it out of the goodness of your heart. When you do it out of the goodness of your heart you are parting with your own money. You can rule out giving to deadbeats and scammers. With the government it is assured a lot of money will go to deadbeats and scammers. Do you not see the difference? I admire the Amish too.
No one FORCES the Morons to join their organization, pay dues, etc. FORCE versus VOLUNTARY. The government is all about FORCE. FORCE. FORCE. FORCE. I understand that you leftists are all about FORCE. You demonstrated this quite well in Cambodia, China, Cuba, the Soviet Union, and countless other places during the 20th century. America is about letting people decide just about everything for themselves. This is why people are lined up to come here...

Isn't that cool of our masters to LET US have "freedom to decide"?!? Of course, if we've been given "permission" or been "let" to decide, then that "permission" can be withdrawn by those who gave it. Our freedoms, RECOGNIZED by the Constitution and Bill of Rights were not BESTOWED by the same. Name one thing you will do in your life tomorrow that does not have a government regulation regarding it. Just ONE! I dare you. Even the amount of water your toilet can use per flush is regulated. You need permission to DRIVE a car. You need permission for which light bulb you'll use in your lamp, that is, if the "smart-meter" on your house will let you use the lamp. You, my friend, are as free as a canary in a cage, to "decide" which perch you will sit on...for now, until they tell you which perch you will use, by taking away all the others.

LMAO! Just like ______________(fill in the blank religion) doesn't "force" anyone into it by threatening their immortal soul if they don't conform, and using peer pressure. Which religion do you believe is correct? Once you choose one though, that means all the others are WRONG!! Consider if you will, you are are a Buddhist, and Buddhism is in fact "the right, true, one". That means all the money, all the man hours, all the churches, synagogues, mosques, and yes, even those Mormon temples are a lie, and a waste. All the money spent on building them is wasted. All the man hours of sitting in buildings honoring a false god are wasted. All the prayers were worthless. And in the end, they're all, except you, going to hell, because they picked the wrong horse. So who is correct? Which religion? Who's right? The truth is the truth no matter how few believe it, and a lie is a lie, no matter how many believe it.

I always though that to be a serve serving and inherently irrational sales pitch for a religion. My next youngest Brother became a Mormon and would bedevil my other siblings with Mormon Elders who were aggressively trying to "save their souls." I encountered this game when I came home for a three week leave. It was intense when they confronted me feeling froggy because my sisters and other brother would flee out the sliding glass door and leave the property when they had pitched aggressively to them. They wound up in my ambush kill zone, not the other way around. I went down to his stake and raised all sorts of nasty commotion. The harassment of my other brother, Mother, and two sisters living at hope came to a profound halt. I could tell in the course of my barely controlled rampage when I 'communicated' how assaulting family made me 'crazy' affected them..And I could tell they had never been told they could wind up skull fucked and turned into pretzel boys was a new experience for them too. I did this in my Paratrooper, NCO class As using the uniform as a weapon because they are so heavily conditioned to symbols of authority and organization. This was in the late 1970s. It was an interesting experience.

They were fairly well shell shocked. And it wasn't until 1985 my Mormon brother would go hunting with me again. Of course, by that time, he had had his girl friend who had suckered him into the faith had married a friend of his while he was on a mission to Quebec, and was in the middle of divorcing his French native speaker wife with whom he had been "sealed in matrimony through eternity with." They had had an arraignment; she would go to school, get her degree, then support him when he was getting his after doing that for her. But... she got her degree, divorced him and moved on. He has since turned into a Jack Mormon who loved his beer, Ducks football, and working two jobs to support his daughters horse show competition habit. Mormons are great people, everyone should own one or two of them; excuse me... I mean Pown.
