UC Davis campus police were given an order to take down an encampment and in the process they were obstructed by a number of protesters. The police did a great job balancing the need to maintain order with the 'students' right to protest. Any objective observer can see the police were not spraying people indiscriminately, in fact in a number of instances they let sprayed protesters alone once they were no longer in their way. Furthermore, by announcing well ahead of time that they were going to employ pepper spray, to the point of even getting a go ahead from one of the protest leaders, anyone who suffered the inhalation of spray did so of their own volition. They were on the one side of Mrack Hall that that has a double walkway. ON the other side of Mrack there is a circle but they were not at the circle which is a green surrounded by a very wide - four lanes - street and also buildings - Mrack and I believe the law library. If you look at the video when the Chancellor leaves her office, she is walking on the same walkway her car as the walkway extends to the parking lot on the side of the building. Happy Thanksgiving...
