The goals set forth in establishing the USA were in regards to individual freedoms, liberties and rights based upon an immutable quality that could not be trampled upon. Madison and Hamilton among others were in this group of folks. In fact, they wanted the clauses of slavery included in the Declaration of Independence in 1776 against King George; it was removed by the Second Continental Congress (third edition) which is the final form.
