Palin "blew" her own national tour for the "discovery of America" back in June this year; she misquoted Paul Revere' Midnite Ride by "ringin' those bells" and so forth. I don't think any of that stuff undermined Palin's chances; The Left-run Dem media would have pulled out all the stops and totally destroyed her AND her family. She's reconsidered whether all of that was worth the grief. She chose wisely IMO. Gingrich caved in to political pressure and sold out to the statists - whether through blackmail or whatever. And you're right about the scandal regarding his wife - it sealed his fate as a viable political force. The 'Contract for America' was a good idea in principle...Anytime a the usual weaselly politicians commit to a collective beneficial promise is a good thing. It lacked conviction and staying power.
