Occupy Wall Street Protestors Plan Epic March From
NYC To Washington D.C.
NEW YORK (PIX11) As the Occupy Wall Street protest moves into its second month at Zuccotti Park, a small group of demonstrators has plans to up the ante -- departing from the Lower Manhattan park and heading toward the nation's capital on foot.
The group plans to kick off their two-week, 240-mile march at noon Wednesday when dozens will leave the park and make their way to Washington, D.C.
According to Kelly Brannon, the march's organizer, the group will most likely grow as it moves south as they plan on picking up supporters along the way.
The goal, Brannon said, is to reach Washington by November 23 which is the deadline for a congressional committee to decide whether to uphold President Barack Obama's extension of Bush-era tax cuts.
Protesters maintain the cuts benefit only wealthy Americans.
Demonstrators who signed up for the epic march say they plan to camp out overnight or seek shelter at volunteered locations.
