Title: Romney Supporters Banned From Free Republic (Rim Job has spoken)

Conservative site on Romney: 'Enemies of the constitution ... are not welcome here'

Free Republic founder Jim Robinson has a message for supporters of Mitt Romney: go away.

In an email to POLITICO this afternoon, Robinson admitted that the site routinely blocks Romney supporters from posting -- and offered no apologies for the practice:

Free Republic is a pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-small government, pro-constitution, pro-liberty site. Governor Romney is none of the above. His record is that of an abortionist, gay rights pushing, gun grabbing, global warming advocating, big government, mandate loving, constitution trampling, flip-flopping liberal progressive with no core values. That and the fact that he is the chief architect and advocate for ObamaCare disqualifies him for any consideration whatsoever on Free Republic as a potential nominee for the presidency. ...

Liberal progressives and other enemies of the constitution and or of Liberty itself are not welcome here. Accounts registered here by liberal progressives and other assorted trolls, malcontents and disruptors will be removed on sight or at the convenience of the site administrators.

The site came under fire from Ross Abraham, a blogger for Mitt Romney Central, who wrote today that Free Republic is just one of several sites (along with RedState, he says) on the right-wing Internet that are pretty much off limits to Mitt Romney's supporters.

Now, for some reason, these editors/moderators are so insecure in their prejudice against Gov. Romney that they ban people who openly support Gov. Romney. Free Republic (mostly because of it’s [sic] owner Jim Robinson) has purged all of the Romney supporters they could from the site in two waves of purges over the last few years. The anti-Romney and anti-Mormon bigotry evident at Free Republic now is absolutely sickening.

But Free Republic has made no secret of its dislike for Romney -- Robinson has written a handful of posts that are hostile to Romney this year.

He posted on "why we can never support Mitt Romney" earlier this month, saying Romney has "violated nearly every plank in the Republican party's official pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Family, pro-Constitution, pro-Liberty platform."

And in May, Robinson explicitly said Romney supporters are not welcome:

I'd rather shut the place down than be involved in any effort to install abortionist/gay rights pushing RINOS like Romney or Giuliani into the White House!! Do NOT push this crap on FR. Take your business elsewhere!!

It's unclear what the situation is at RedState, though, the other site named in Abraham's story. I reached out to Erick Erickson for comment, but didn't get a response.

Nate Gunderson, who also writes for Mitt Romney Central, said he doesn't know the whole background with RedState but that Abraham's post was in response to two pro-Romney writers being banned from the site.

"I know that Red State is typically not a Romney friendly zone, but I concede to them the right to run their website as they wish," he wrote in an email. "It is a real possibility that these two may have over stepped their bounds."

He said he's not really concerned with the sites' practices and that he hasn't reached out to them at all.

"There are those who don't like Romney and may never come around to him," he said. "I think there are enough sensible voters out there that it won't really matter."

Which means their standards are so low, not even a Boofer cuts the mustard in Cafe Paranoia. Which knowing that dump, that is no surprise.

Didn't Rimjob do something similar in 1999-2000? Come out against Bush Jr I mean, and then support him when he became the nominee?

What's the over/under that he does the same with Romney when he becomes the GOP standard bearer?

"Of COURSE he does. Being a janitor is a LONELY JOB."

I was working for Portland Saturday Market (PSM) doing set-up and tear down of the market infrastructure every weekend from the beginning of march until the Christian holiday of Christmas. I was given the custotial job for the Skidmore Fountain Building that the market owned up to a couple of years ago.

It is a five story building built in 1889 and was called the Packer Bell building. I was the only custodian and cleaned several suites of offices. In fact, I never asked for the position after a coworker doing that job left, they judged me as very reliable and trustworthy and I got it instead of several younger coworkers who had been at market longer.

I got the Market job because I had moved to Portland and had worked five years at the Eugene Saturday market doing market duties simular to what I did in Portland.

I am an activist and I had an excellent survival job that allowed me to do activities that would have scuttled a conventional business job. Something I have had over the years and am doing now.

The petition campaign had an office and I cleaned it. I was in perfect position to get extremely damning data that kept Nader off the ballot.

Skidmore Fountain Building

Ankeny Square today serves as a gateway to Portland's Old Town neighborhood, a National Historic District that is one of the oldest sections of Portland and contains many beautiful buildings of brick and cast iron from the late 1800s, the historic Skidmore Fountain and the Portland Saturday Market beneath the Burnside Bridge.

They trusted me to do the job alone. It was very fun and allowed me to do activism up there without worrying where rent and other monies were coming from. I liked my job.

I was actually a custodian, and it dovetailed into my duties at market. I started work at Market Friday night and worked until Saturday morning when it opened. It was a great deal of fun and I miss it. In fact, I might be moving back to PDX to do an instructor gig at Free Geek. I'll also be returning to my job there building up computers and testing donated parts from the donated machines we make grant, geek, and store boxes from.

Custodial refers to a job that has security aspects too. But I would be surprised if Erica had been anything but her usual derisive self, so it's all good. As I said, I liked that job because working market is great fun with many interesting vendors and customers, many one sees every weekend. The security guy moved to Portland from Eygpt to be with his daughter in Portland, and he is a retired Egyptian Army general who goes back every year and brings a couple of people with him when he goes. As I had set him up to buy used monitors and other computer equpment to send back home in cargo containers from Free Geek, and got a fee per unit, I got to go with him in 2006. In any event, I am not afraid of hard work and prefer to work outdoors, which is why I've vended and worked at market in the first place. The Skidmore Fountain Building job was just something that dovetailed in nicely with what I was doing then. Here is a picture of me that year in front of the Market building across from the Skidmore Market Building. I have my Cenelli Super Corsa bicycle with me. You can see the seat post.

That is a hand made 'Hat People' hat from Talent, Oregon. It cost about 40 dollars and is very well made. The tie dye I made, and is very typical of the sort of garment I sell in my craft booth.

I followed the Grateful Dead on tour quite a bit, and I feel right at home in hippie camouflage, thank you. But thank you for sharing. ;-D

Custodial refers to a job that has security aspects too.

My dad supported a family of five for fifteen years on a janitor's salary with Mom able to stay home and take care of us during that time, although he actually had a real degree in engineering, not a fake one like most of the imposters here claim for themselves.

Jobs were at a premium for quite a few years with the huge influx of returning WWII vets entering the job market and one had to take what one could get. Needless to say, we ate steak 2-3 times a month, went on fishing and hunting trips and at least one vacation each year, had two cars and generally did not go without.
