Title: Herman Cain Plans To Cut Campaign Appearances To Avoid Missteps

BIRMNGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- Presidential candidate Herman Cain is full of confidence about his 2012 prospects.

It's been weeks since he's set foot in first-voting Iowa or New Hampshire, yet he said Saturday he said expects to finish first or second in each state.

He's also predicting victory in South Carolina, which will hold the South's first presidential contest in 2012.

"And then, look out," Cain said Saturday before plunging into a crowd of football tailgaters at Samford University, a Baptist-affiliated school in Alabama.

That win, he says, will set the stage for him to capture the GOP nomination.

Cain, however, said he plans to "dial back" his campaign and media appearances in order to avoid missteps. Since climbing in the polls, he has had a series of fumbles, forcing him to clarify comments on abortion, immigration and terrorism suspects.

Cain has chalked up the mistakes to a grueling campaign schedule jammed with media interviews. Such itineraries are standard fare on the presidential campaign trail and it is unclear how aggressively he will restrict his schedule.

A former pizza magnate who has never held elected office, Cain is adapting from a longshot candidate hustling for any media attention to a front-runner who must be more selective with his time and disciplined in his message.

"When you're too tired you're not on you're `A game,'" the 65-year-old Georgia businessman told a throng of reporters who greeted the arrival of his bus on the Samford campus.

He said it was a mistake to schedule interviews immediately following debates. Cain maintained he did not flip-flop on issues, but simply did not hear questions properly.

The blunt-spoken Cain has been more cautious lately. At a campaign stop at the Alabama Republican Party headquarters on Friday, Cain paused then asked a reporter to repeat a complicated two-part question on immigration.

"I don't want to have to clarify," he said with a laugh.

Not everyone thinks walking back a misstatement is a sign of weakness.

"I like that if he says something, he's not afraid to turn around and admit he's wrong," said Phil Andrews, of Birmingham, who tried without success to reach the candidate and have him sign his Cain t-shirt.

A former pizza magnate who has never held elected office, Cain is adapting from a longshot candidate hustling....

FOUND: Two slurs in one sentence by 0bama media organ, the sleazy NY Daily News.

Notice how the Liberal-Left ALWAYS refers to Cain as a "Pizza" something or another in it's underhanded attempts to ridicule him.

The "hustling" comment is intended to invoke some kind of sleazy, borderline legal connotation. People are usually described "hustling" tricks and compromising on personal principle.

Imagine if 0bama had been described "the former Community Organizer" who was "hustling" whatever?

I find it odd that *suddenly* the Koch bros have burst onto the political scene as the GOP boogieman and supposed puppetmeister ever since KOS, HuffPo, and DU have ordained them so. I guess they are supposed to be the counterweight to Soros (who fellow Leftists and Commies don't seem to have a problem with).

Sorry - NOT only am I NOT buying your premise, but the Koch "influence" can't even be compared to Soros' degree of evil AND subversion.

You're welcome to build your own case, then compare and contract, though.

Tell me - WHAT exactly is egregious about the Koch's? Can you explain that first, Mike?

You claim Cain is "a Koch Brothers surrogate." You claim this alone is "damning".

WHAT EXACTLY is "damning"?

You mean explain why I find the manner they employ Machiavellian principles to the manner they use to spread the influence of their wealth around to try to exert political influence in an underhanded way?

You do realize this is a topic with enough scope and depth to it for another thread that could take days to develop.

....the manner they use to spread the influence of their wealth around to try to exert political influence in an underhanded way?

Is that the same as what lobbyists do?

Are the Koch's influencing America in a subversive manner? Are they trying to screw the middle class by screwing with international currencies? (like Soros)

Is their supporting politically conservative causes and candidates REALLY the reason your side (yes, YOUR side) continues to make the Koch's to root of all evil?

Considering what and who 0bama's surrogate is - George Soros - don't you think whatever the Koch's are, they are absolute *angels" compared to him?

IF we're comparing oranges-to-oranges, Mike, this HAS to come back to 0bama. AND *his* surrogate.

What kind of corruption? Were Mickey Mouse and dead Democratic voters involved? Come on - as though Nader had a chance? If anything, Nader affected KERRY'S constituency, not Bush's. Politics is dirty - it's a given. Even within the same party. The Dems are far worse in this respect. NO one manipulates things more than Soros; No party cheats at stealing votes (dead, inner-city, and otherwise) more than the Dem Party.

Btw, who kept Hitlery off the Dem primary ballot in Michigan and Florida? Remember that back in 2008 when Bubbette was still alive? Hmmm...was it 0bama's sponsor, Soros?

Think about it.

He just doesn't care, and imposes bad behavior on people that the ineffective moderation of this forum allows to flourish.
