Connecticut Republican Christopher Shays has listened to a lot of reckless rhetoric in his ongoing campaign for reelection.
The straw that broke the camels back apparently came when his Democrat challenger, Diane Farrell, called for Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Il.) to resign while welcoming the support of Senator Teddy Kennedy (D-Mass.) who campaigned for Farrell in the state recently.
Shays had this to say about relative integrity of Hastert and Kennedy:
"I know the speaker didn't go over a bridge and leave a young person in the water, and then have a press conference the next day," and Dennis Hastert didn't kill anybody," he added.
Shays remarks were in reference to the 1969 incident at Chappaquiddick in which Mary Jo Kopechne, a young female campaign worker, died after Senator Kennedys car plunged off a bridge.

Thank you, Mr. Shays, for taking off the gloves and unleashing the truth!
