I never say to never forget that sort of thing; but I have learned from activism - and even from Stone's religion with which I was tortured as a kid when I was forced to go to Mass - that forgiveness is a potent and valuable tool. None of use are perfect. And often out perspective on what is wrong can be a hurricane in our minds, when it is a tempest in a teapot to the rest of the world.

I mean no disrespect to your perspective and am not trying to invalidate it. I only speak for myself, and I am using tools I have been given in my life I have gained from the various things I have done. Both in the military and when doing activism have had to call people I loathe brethren. It is never easy, but in many situations it is unavoidable. It is also never easy to try to be as forthcoming and to avoid pandering to people in even a virtual community. But I will always speak my mind even if it is discomforting to people like you for example whom I really respect and like.

Not me. I was all sunshine and light when I was the G Chief. Of course,the students who had to deal with me had a slightly different outlook on that issue. I did get feedback later from a couple that served in Afghanistan that the lessons they learned about dealing with difficult guerrilla leaders came in handy and may have saved their lives and missions,though.

Yes, China is much more capitalist than the U.S. today. This is why they are growing at 8%, while we are stagnating. However, look at Chinese history - before, during and after Communism. China has always been much more concerned with what goes on inside their country than out. Throughout their history, they built walls to keep others out (not just the Great Wall, but many walls built over centuries). Even during the Cold War, when Russia was fermenting revolution around the world, China mostly kept to themselves (unless there was a conflict right on their border, like Korea). China is not the next natural leader of the world as goober claims. Nor are they a huge threat to America as the GOP neo-commies state.
