U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice offended Israelis with her call to free Palestinians from "the daily humiliation of the occupation" in a speech to the American Task Force on Palestine last night. Rice went on to say “there could be no greater legacy for Americans than to help bring into being a Palestinian state for a people who have suffered too long, who have been humiliated too long.”
Reaction in Jerusalem has been harsh, reports http://CNSNews.com Jerusalem Bureau Chief Julie Stahl. Yoram Ettinger, a former Israeli diplomat and liaison to the U.S. Congress fears Rice’s speech signals that the U.S. is abandoning Israel, adding “Rice is a brilliant woman, but she is out of her league. She is ignorant of the facts on the ground.”
