Former Vietnam Green Beret and Mideast expert Pat Lang weighs in: The fact is that the Iraqis won.  The various insurgents and terrorist groups fought us to a standstill.  The "Surge?"  What crap!  The Sons of Iraq ended the insurgency.  They will be back in opposition to the Shia run government of Iraq.  The Iraqis won politically as well.  Proof?  They have now shown us the door. Oh, yes!  The Iranians won as well.  That's my assessment too. A debacle from Day One. The Bushies never knew whether they were invading to help the Iraqis or hurt them. These are the chess moves which will force WW 3. China and Russia will of course get some resources,....but will be the lower,...will be supplicant to the Global Machina out of Europe. Until they freak out. NATO gets no fly zone.....and UN whatever....that no weapons resupply for Kaddafy. meanwhile....NATO bombs Libya to smithereens, resupplys Rats... lands foreign Mercs by the thousands. and not a noise is heard round the world.
