Occupy Wall Street a favorite of Communists and dictators K.E. Campbell The occupying protesters' day got off to a good start. Iran's supreme leader and "new leftists" in the People's Republic of China have endorsed their cause. During a speech yesterday in Kermanshah, Iran, before a crowd of "tens of thousands," Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said: The corruption of the capitalist regime has become evident for these people (the protesters)... This movement will soar to completely mark the downfall of the West and the capitalist regime. The speech was broadcast on Iran's state-controlled television. Khamenei claimed the "corrupt foundation has been exposed to the American people" and the protest movement in the U.S., ultimately, "will grow so that it will bring down the capitalist system and the west." A general in Iran's Revolutionary Guard described the protests in the U.S. as the beginning of an "American Spring" that will culminate in the toppling of "the Western capitalist system." The occupiers (the Pot Party?) are drawing the attention, admiration, and support of fellow travelers in communist China too. According to an article in Asian Times titled "New leftists salute Wall Street brethren": China's new leftists - socialist critics of the country's capitalist-style economic reforms - are beginning to lend support, declaring the [U.S.] demonstrations as a "great revolution" that sounds the death-knell for capitalism throughout the world. The new leftists oppose what they view as Beijing's "pro-capitalist and pro-U.S. policies" and "apparently see the U.S. protest movement as strong evidence in support of their faith." (That would be faith in authoritarian government, not God or a Creator.) The primary website of China's new leftists, called Utopia, includes prominent references to the "Wall Street Revolution", the "Death of Capitalism", and praise for socialism and "Mao-style ideology". In a show of support for the U.S. occupiers, public gatherings have been held in at least two Chinese cities. Both gatherings were unhindered by Chinese authorities. Four days ago, in the city square of Luoyang in Henan province, participants "put up a big picture of Mao and displayed a huge banner with the slogan "To Staunchly Support American People's Great 'Wall Street' Revolution!"". Hugo Chavez endorsed the Occupy Wall Street protests days ago. So far, neither Fidel Castro nor Kim Jong-il has commented publicly, though North Korea's state-controlled news service issued a press release describing the protests as being "against exploitation and oppression by capital" and declaring that similar protests "are expected take place in other capitalist countries." It is doubtful the endorsement by despots, dictators, and other oppressors will give the occupiers pause. Some people prefer an iron fist over the invisible hand or at least something more akin to it. Many of the protesters apparently buy into the premise and false choice of a Baltimore Sun reader who, in support of his anti-free-market stance, asks: "Which is worse, a society ruled by a power-hungry, greedy dictator or a government run by power-hungry, greedy corporations?"

Plus 442 Nuke reactors worldwide. 100% chance that a 30-200 Km radius area of plentiful fresh water and wildlife will be made uninhabitable in the US. Your children will curse you.
Why do right wingers always take the position that protestors are working for the commies or enemies of America when the right of assembly is something repressive regimes fear the most and thus proves America is still a free country? Why do you fossils on the right still act like we are fighting the Vietnam War and the protestors are somehow helping the cause of the Vietcong? It is not 1968 anymore you right wing kooks. Welcome to the 21st century where an all Republican administration staffed with pro business insiders carried out policies that allowed the financial system to kill itself from excess. The commies did not cause the collapse of the capitalist financial system, the capitalists did themselves in. Both capitalism and communism are failed macro economic systems. The sooner American right wingers realize their ideology never worked the easier moving on will be. I am sure many Russians and Chinese had a hard time accepting their ideology was a failure also but in time they moved on as well.

Like I said, when the First Right Wing 9/11 Thread appeared here 4 days ago. Once you change your stance, you can't go to the middle of the road. It's all or nothing. And that's their problem. Once they move away from the antiquated Reagan/Nixon/Oswald did it stance, they've got to go all the way. Like Ron paul is now doing....;}

I also think it goes to their mentality that what they really mean by small govt or freedom is as it applies to themselves vs the "others". They really want govt to work for their agenda only and that rights be applied selectively. This is again, the Jim Crow, DIxie-Crat mentality that migrated into the GOP when Nixon's Southern Strategy invited the Dixie-Crats to switch parties and become conservative Republicans. I am now convinced more than ever that the hatred of Socialism is based on racism. I have been told over and over and read it online from right wing pundits that European style Scandinavian socialism does work (they admit that) and does so because those countries are homogenous (same race) and that kind of Socialism would not work in America because of America's racial diversity (the "coloreds" would sponge off whitey). If you doubt it look up reactions to the fact that more whites than blacks live off welfare. That fact makes them react real quick and point out that more % of blacks per capita accept welfare because again, I feel their objection to socialism is that they feel whites are supporting a racial group they despise.

What about those payday loan places. Are they your friend? The U.S. Treasury sets the interest rates for Treasury bills. The interest rates are at historic lows. So, the analogy doesn't wash. I've to been to China. I've been to Taiwan. I've been to Hong Kong too. In fact, I was in Taiwan in August just as the U.S. said that they would not sell the Taiwanese some fighter jets. No one was panicked. No one thought that the "Red" Chinese would invade at any moment. There are too many economic ties between the two countries for any "invasion" to occur. This is all hyped up in the American media. Sure, China is still a one party state and I wouldn't want to live there. But they are no longer communist. They are more like some of the right-wing dictatorships of Latin America in the 1980s -- authoritarian but freeing up their economies so they can move up the economic ladder. General Augusto Pinochet versus Mao Zedong. Neither are good, but one is vastly better than the other. China's stated goal is to become a big Singapore. I've been to Singapore many times. I love Singapore. To the extent that China are our "enemy" is the extent that American neo-cons want to make them our enemy. ditto with Russia. American domestic politics are pushing them into the enemy camp. It's not them. It's us.
