United States News Title: Et tu, Brute? The life of western man has never been so antipodal. He has conquered war, famine, and disease through perseverance, wisdom and creativity. He has created the industrial world, which has propelled all of humanity forward to an era of unprecedented prosperity. Yet despite these heroic accomplishments, he is slandered at every attempt in polite society, vilified as an inherent evil, and blamed for his very nature. Furthermore, his detractors are quite often accomplished members of his own circle. How does one explain this dichotomy in the perception of males? Quite simply: western society has become infantile. Children are often characterized by their inability to accept responsibility for their choices, or even understand that their actions result in consequences. Western leaders, at every institutional level, have continued to enact policies without any forethought to their consequences, motivated by poorly conceived ideologies and social trends. Entranced by feminist proselytizing, politicians (such as Mr. Bennett) enacted in rapid succession a set of policies which were so short sighted that, once passed, aggressive propaganda and subversion was necessary to distract curious minds from examining the ramifications. No fault divorce was introduced, absolving the filing party of all responsibility. Yet alimony and asset division remained. Any individual with a modicum of perspicacity would realize that this would immediately result in an economic incentive for divorce in the case of the poorer spouse. Yet, our elected leaders, many of whom are economists or have in their employ a great many esteemed economists, allegedly could not foresee this simple causality. Thus, the institution of marriage became the domain of the naive romantic and the avaricious opportunist (in equal measure of course). The practice of family law became a massively profitable industry, and like any successful industry, it lobbied to protect its business interests. The divorce industry could not (and cannot) allow family law to be altered in any way, for it would destroy their business model. Massive alimony settlements and asset divisions constitute the Greek fire which drives this infernal machine. The money drives the industry, and the industry perpetuates its existence by doing whatever it takes to keep family law in an ossified state. Sadly, it is obvious at this point that the divorce industry is so powerful that it is willing and able to crush all challenges to its legitimacy. The divorce industry has allied with all who may aid it in its cause: traditionalists who defend marriage till death (or debtors prison) do them part, feminists who desire the fruits of equality without its costs, and nihilists who wish to rip society apart at its seams. As one might expect, the battle for those who wish to restore sanity to this Kafkaesque nightmare shall be long, and their list of allies thin. Yet, for those who believe that societys children deserve parents, it is a battle worth fighting. Thus, next time Mr. Bennett tells you to man up, stop playing video games and get married, kindly reply with: Grow up. Only by taking responsibility for our actions and clearly understanding their consequences can we begin to have a cogent discussion about the issues we face. Shaming language, baseless ideologies, entitlement complexes and ad hominem attacks have no place in the world of adult discourse.
