The reports are not good, disturbing even. I have heard basically the same story four times in the last 10 days, and the people doing the talking are in New York and Washington and are spread across the political spectrum.

The gist is this: President Obama has become a lone wolf, a stranger to his own government. He talks mostly, and sometimes only, to friend and adviser Valerie Jarrett and to David Axelrod, his political strategist.

Everybody else, including members of his Cabinet, have little face time with him except for brief meetings that serve as photo ops. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner both have complained, according to people who have talked to them, that they are shut out of important decisions.

President Obama has become a lone wolf, a stranger to his own government.

The president’s workdays are said to end early, often at 4 p.m. He usually has dinner in the family residence with his wife and daughters, then retreats to a private office. One person said he takes a stack of briefing books. Others aren’t sure what he does.

If the reports are accurate, and I believe they are, they paint a picture of an isolated man trapped in a collapsing presidency. While there is no indication Obama is walking the halls of the White House late at night, talking to the portraits of former presidents, as Richard Nixon did during Watergate, the reports help explain his odd public remarks.

Obama conceded in one television interview recently that Americans are not “better off than they were four years ago” and said in another that the nation had “gotten a little soft.” Both smacked of a man who feels discouraged and alienated and sparked comparisons to Jimmy Carter, never a good sign.

Blaming the country is political heresy, of course, yet Obama is running out of scapegoats. His allies rarely make affirmative arguments on his behalf anymore, limiting themselves to making excuses for his failure. He and they attack Republicans, George W. Bush, European leaders and Chinese currency manipulation -- and that was just last week.

The blame game isn’t much of a defense for Solyndra and “Fast and Furious,” the emerging twin scandals that paint a picture of incompetence at best.

Obama himself is spending his public time pushing a $450 billion “jobs” bill -- really another stimulus in disguise -- that even Senate Democrats won’t support. He grimly flogged it repeatedly at his Thursday press conference, even though snowballs in hell have a better chance of survival.

If he cracked a single smile at the hour-plus event, I missed it. He seems happy only on the campaign trail, where the adoration of the crowd lifts his spirits.

When it comes to getting America back on track to economic growth, he is running on vapors. Yet he shows no inclination to adopt any ideas other than his own Big Government grab. His itch for higher taxes verges on a fetish.

Harvey Golub, former chairman of American Express, called the “jobs” bill an incoherent mess. Writing in The Wall Street Journal, he said that among other flaws, the bill includes an unheard of retroactive tax hike on the holders of municipal bonds. (jwpegler: Constitution says no ex post facto laws).

“Many of us have suspected that economic illiterates were setting the economic policy of this administration,” Golub wrote, adding that the bill “reveals a depth of cluelessness that boggles the mind.”

President Obama has become a lone wolf, a stranger to his own government.

The public increasingly shares the sentiment. A new Quinnipiac polls finds that 55 percent now disapprove of Obama’s job performance, with only 41 percent approving. A mere 29 percent say the economy will improve if the president gets four more years.

The election, unfortunately, is nearly 13 months away.

The way Obama’s behaving, by then we’ll all be talking to portraits of past presidents, asking why this one turned out to be such a flop.

Its also evident in the huge drop in campaign contributions to his reelection campaign.

Remember six months ago, when they were chortling Owe-bama would raise over a billion dollars for his reelect campaign?

Not even CLOSE going by the 2nd quarter financials.

The only real question is who will be the guy occupying the Whitehouse in January of 2013.

Proxy IP's are amusing.....lmao

Yep, most of Obama's 2008 big Wall Street donors have bailed. He can still rely on Hollywood for a bunch of money.

Independents have also bailed on Obama. That means, at MOST he will get somewhere between 40% and 43% of the vote next November.

The only way possible for him to win re-election is if a really substantial candidate on the center-right runs as an independent, and takes the majority of independent votes away from the GOP nominee (like happened to Bush in 1992). The only person with the national persona to do this today is Trump, and he is NOT going to do it because he wants Obama out of office as well.

The sad fact is that Obama won't be gone until Jan 2013. Even though the GOP can block his rotten legislative agenda, they can't do much about Obama's out-of- control regulatory agencies.

The economy will remain stalled for the next year and half.

Geez, I hope FINALLY the retards in the MSM will start to have a clue that this clown had no business ever being elected. Why wasn't he vetted properly in the first place? His entire campaign was "yes we can" and "fired up, ready to go," and he was touted as the messiah for that.

Obama has played at being a president while enjoying the perks … golf, insanely expensive vacations at tax-payer expense. He has ignored the responsibilities of the job; no plans, no budgets, no alternatives … just finger pointing; making him a complete failure as a president

If either Romney or Cain were to be elected President, the economy would jump start radically, especially since the GOP would also probably control the Senate.

Listen carefully, and you'll hear a lot of them already saying that he didn't have the experience to be President. Every single one of them regret the emotional decision they made by supporting him just because he was black. They all wish Hitlery was in the White House because they know what is coming next year.

Really? So businesses are just waiting for Cain to impose a NEW national sales tax ON TOP OF the payroll tax, personal income tax, and corporate income tax???

I learned a long-time ago that you don't ADD a NEW tax in exchange for LOWERING an existing one. If Cain wants a sales tax, he should propose to ELIMINATE the income tax. I would support that. I do NOT support Cain's plan to give the government yet another tax that they can raise anytime they want.

Insofar as Romney is concerned, the Wall Street Journal called his economic program a timid joke. It's not a big enough change to fix the problems that have been slowly mounting in the country since the 1970s. Romney essentially would be the 4th Bush Family term. No thanks, been there, done that.

After four years of either of these guys, we'll see Hillary in the White House in 2016.

Jon Huntsman is the only candidate that has an economic program that actually addresses the fundamental challenges that we have. He is not going to be President.

Thats the bet everyone thats rational is making. The other question is will the coming landslide be enough to give the GOP a 60 seat filibuster proof majority for the two year term.

11 months ago, after the mid term landslide, I though it was 20% odds that could be realized. 6 months ago, though maybe 40% chance.

Today I have to say 50% and rising.

The democrats are defending more seats in the Senate by a wide margin. And making political mistakes, like snuggling up to these idiots from 'occupy wall street'.

As we get closer to the general election, they will get more and more shrill, and more unnerved. Thats already beginning, actually.

There's a race waged (no pun intended) by 0bama and his Commies to create enough "crises" through their staging anarchical squatting in several cities - enough (they hope) to foment chaos and then martial lawn and the suspension of the constitutional (and with it of course, voting.) The media will be willing pawns and aiding and abetting in this portrayal of "CRISIS".

THIS is 0bama's last shot as a dictator - he will take it.

You know, campaign promises about tax policy isn't taken serious by anybody. It's regulatory policy that's the issue -- and that can be enacted by a stroke of the executive pen.

How stupid, delusional and arrogant can this asshole be? Working people do NOT appreciate coming home from busting their hump and watching the 6:00 News anchors report on 0bama's nuanced but obvious support of fellow deadbeats, parasite, and punk anarchists. Only the sickest and most fascist of Dems support this Wall St. 1960s sit-in style crap.

Indy voters and even many Dems can add up 2 + 2 these day. They even know 0bama is a loser and conspiring against even them. The GOP could run ANY warm body in 2012 and beat this POS Commie-traitor.

Cain is proposing to add a brand new tax (national sales tax) on top of the other taxes we have. If Obama had proposed this, you'd be screaming bloody murder.

The Jobs Bill has an excellent chance of surviving until November 2012 as a campaign issue. That is its real purpose. It's electioneering show business. He would deliver jobs but congress won't let him. That's a better sell than asking if we are better off now than we were four years ago.
