This is a non-isssue - the USA has killed plenty of American citizens who fought against America, the confederacy is one example. German Americans who fought for Hitler is another and American citizen pirates (a more fitting example in al-Qaeda's case).

What does any of your mutterings here have to do with the rank hypocrisy of the Left screaming about non lethal waterboarding being a 'war crime' and the killing of an American citizen in another country via a drone strike, without a trial?

Personally, I fully support Owe-bama's decision here. But its hilarious watching you clowns on the Left remain silent given the waterboarding is a war crime bullshit you toss at Bush and Cheney to this day.

Only a moron would equate what can happen ON the battlefield as justifying what can happen OFF of it.

Kiling a combatant on the field of battle is 100% justifiable. Torturing him off of it is not.

Yep, and so far nobody has ruled 'waterboarding' to be illegal.

Nice lie Boofer...

In the war crimes tribunals that followed Japan's defeat in World War II, the issue of waterboarding was sometimes raised. In 1947, the U.S. charged a Japanese officer, Yukio Asano, with war crimes for waterboarding a U.S. civilian. Asano was sentenced to 15 years of hard labor.

On Jan. 21, 1968, The Washington Post ran a front-page photo of a U.S. soldier supervising the waterboarding of a captured North Vietnamese soldier. The caption said the technique induced "a flooding sense of suffocation and drowning, meant to make him talk." The picture led to an Army investigation and, two months later, the court martial of the soldier.

In 1983, Texas Sheriff James Parker was charged, along with three of his deputies, for handcuffing prisoners to chairs, placing towels over their faces, and pouring water on the cloth until they gave what the officers considered to be confessions. The sheriff and his deputies were all convicted and sentenced to four years in prison.

Torture and Murder go hand in glove.

"

If there was the slightest shred of justice in the CIA's renditions, it has been obliterated by the burdens the U.S. has heaped on the several lawyers allowed to represent a handful of the accused, making it difficult for them to visit their clients, to speak to their clients, and to represent them fairly. Worse, the Pentagon has dressed military personnel in civilian suits and sent them to tell captives they are their court-appointed lawyers and can speak to them freely when, in fact, they are spies! And nothing points to American culpability so much as the widespread torture of captives. When, in the annals of human history, has a nation using such foul methods ever been in the right? When has any nation that closets men in secret prisons to deny access to them by the International Red Cross not had something ghastly to hide? When, in all of human history, has any nation that ever outspent all the other nations on the planet combined on armaments not been an aggressor state?"

Assassinating terrorists and murdering Libyan civilians isn't a violation of "civil rights," but waterboarding is.

As has been pointed out before, the law recognizes a bifurcation of what occurs on a battlefield and what occurs in custody. The issue was never whether the capture of a combatant was legal. It was what DumbDubv43 tried to get away with AFTERWARD that was the issue. The SCOTUS agreed, btw.

I challenge you to find any post of mine in which my advocacy of this fact changed in Janiary of 2009.

0bama starting wars in Libya and Yemen while reneging on his promise to stop the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq is honorable behavior of a Nobel Peace Prize winner, yet it's Bush and Cheney who are the "War Criminals."

First off, Obama never promised to stop the war in Afghanistan. He did promise to escalate it. Secondly, he has wound down and continues to wind down the combat presence in Iraq.

Chuckles...been awhile since I've seen the Old Libby Two Step - brought to you by Novartis makers of Ritalin. You are all over the map here. Libby.

So the lesson and new 0bama policy here and in the case of the apprehended bin Laden who was in custody for a minute/several seconds obviously is: EXECUTE. TAKE NO PRISONERS.

The order to kill Bin Laden was issued by Billl Clinton, the same POTUS you have previously taken to task for NOT having dealt with Bin Laden when he was in office.

So which one do YOU want it...Bin Laden alive or dead?

And since Bin Laden was a clearly recognizable figure as a both a combatant and a command and control figure of other combatants, he was clearly subject to a "battlefield" dispensation no matter where he was. We killed Yamamoto and have targeted other military leaders throughout history.

I do not lose one half wink of sleep nor do I fear for the erosion of the USCON because Bin Laden was splashed in his bed clothes and then got pissed on by some SEALS and Marines - and probably a few hundred of their drivers - and then kicked overboard to have his carcass consumed by whatever cared to eat it.

It goes the same for that that asshole in Yemen. A clear combatant as well as the command and control of other combatants who CLEARLY - despite your contrary myopia - would attack US citizens and interests whereever they could be engaged.

Allow me to amend your perception of the events; 0bama started TWO unnecessary wars in Libya and Yemen that have NO bearing on US security. CAN YOU DEFEND THEM?? How the hell do you defend these actions by King 0bama?:

Alow me to re-focus your attention on the context of my answer which was you incorrectly stating that Obama promised to "wind down" Afghanistan which was 100% bullshit.

A New Strategy For A New World Deliver 7/15/2008

I will focus this strategy on five goals essential to making America safer: ending the war in Iraq responsibly; finishing the fight against Al Qaeda and the Taliban; securing all nuclear weapons and materials from terrorists and rogue states; achieving true energy security; and rebuilding our alliances to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

Now is the time for a responsible redeployment of our combat troops that pushes Iraq’s leaders toward a political solution, rebuilds our military, and refocuses on Afghanistan and our broader security interests.

~~~
Obama did not start the war in Libya or Yemen.
A) Khaddafy has killed US citizens and thumbed his nose in allowing the Lockerbie bombers to be brought to US justice.
B) The Libya campaign was initiated by NATO and pushed for by France.
C) The "war" in Yemen is targeted against Al Qeada and was started by DumbDubv43.
