Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said, at the moment, Democrats in Congress don’t have the votes to pass President Obama’s jobs bill, but Durbin added that that situation would change. “Not at the moment, I don’t think we do, but, uh, we can work on it,” Durbin said, according to Chicago radio station WLS. President Obama has been calling for Congress to pass his American Jobs Act since legislators returned from their August recess. The jobs plan is made up of a combination of tax increases on the wealthy, new infrastructure spending, an extension of the employee payroll-tax cut and additional funding for unemployment insurance benefits. Republicans have voiced opposition to the plan, albeit less than with other pieces of legislation Democrats have proposed recently. Durbin added that the president’s bill would need bipartisan support because there are senators both on the left and the right opposed to aspects of it. “The oil-producing-state senators don’t like eliminating or reducing the subsidy for oil companies,” Durbin said. “There are some senators who are up for election who say ‘I’m never gonna vote for a tax increase while I’m up for election, even on the wealthiest people.’ So, we’re not gonna have 100 percent of Democratic senators. That’s why it needs to be bipartisan and I hope we can find some Republicans who will join us to make it happen.”

Because the poor have nothing of value to steal. I worked in downtown Seattle for 7 years (2000 - 2007) in an area called Belltown. Seattle is the homeless capital of the U.S. From our main conference room, we could see hobos defecating in the street, smoking crack, shooting heroin, and having butt sex. The cops would get numerous calls from our office every day for years. What did the police do? They would stand in front of building, handing out jay walking tickets to people from my office. Why? Because we could pay and the hobos couldn't. I don't view the police as law enforcement officials any longer. I view them as tax collectors. They are as useless as any other government bureaucrat.
It depends. If I want to buy gas for my car, I doubt the itinerant can help me. But if I want some yard work done, I doubt I can afford the oil tycoon.

Yep. The little village in which I live has a 30MPH speed limit that goes on forever. Don't be caught doing 32.

But if you go to New Jersey, I understand that all the stations there are full-serve. Maybe some oil tycoons are pumping gas there. If I ever get down that way, I'll check it out.

Hanging Baby Stimulus 2 on top of Stimulus 1 that failed spectacularly would be the final nail in their political coffins in most areas in the nation.
