New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is reconsidering his decision not to enter the 2012 presidential race — and he says he will let top Republican donors know within days about his plans, Newsmax has learned. During the past few weeks, several leading Republican donors and fundraisers have been urging the popular Republican governor to reconsider his decision not to run and to enter the GOP primary. These Christie supporters note that significant GOP support has remained on the sidelines of the primary fight. Many leading fundraisers have yet to commit to any current primary contender, including frontrunners Rick Perry and Mitt Romney. Newsmax has learned that the effort to draft Christie culminated in a hush-hush powwow held in the past week with Christie and several notable Republican billionaires.

The book was entitled "Thunder on the Right". She wrote a little note in the cover stating that the book was about my philosophical "friends". The book was written by a British conservative journalist who was trying to figure out the American right. It was a great book, with a lot of deep insights. The author was critical of the American right and I was emboldened, but I loved the book because it was so absolutely factual. One conclusion that he came to was that the American right desires style in addition to substance. He argued (correctly in my view) that the American right's style was a tough but team-oriented John Wayne in the 1960s, but by 1980 it had migrated to a much more individualistic Clint Eastwood (Dirty Harry) style, who went out on his own to impassionately fix what's wrong. Chris Christie is a good guy. But, I really, really, really hope that the American right's style is NOT now personified by some guy from New Jersey. New Jersey!!! God help us.

I talked to a few of my conservative friends tonight, they are down in the dumps over the state of the GOP race and horrified over the thought of Christie, an advocate of gun control, potentially getting into the race.

I've said this since 2008 -- Romney will be the nominee. It's how the GOP works. It doesn't make any sense, but it is just how it is. I will vote for a third party candidate once again.
